Any moms successfully potty train their little boys using the underwear method or letting them run around without a pull up or underwear on? Explain more to me! How old was your child and how long did it take? I think keeping my son in pull ups is confusing to him
Mine is almost fully trained, but I started with letting him run around naked. He had accidents, but when he was ready, he just went. Started with peeing (he has that down now), and he recently figured out pooping in the potty. When he was comfortable, I put him in big boy underwear. He can pee no problems (except for he takes his clothes all the way off still). He has not gotten the concept of pulling his undies down to poop yet. But we will get there soon enough. We still use pull ups during nap/nighttime and when we go out.
I potty trained 4 of my nephew. I took them to family dollar let them pick out some underwear.
I also got a coloring book with stickers and some m&m every time the use the pot, I give them 2 m&m if they boo boo and pee they got 5 m&ms it took two days to train him he was 19months he got the color book to use while sitting on the pot. the others were a lil over two.
I used regular underwear and pull-ups (only at night). I first tried when he was 1 and a half because he started showing interest in his dad using the restroom but it didn’t work. I guess He wasn’t ready. We tried again when he was 2 and he showed wayyy more interest. He would take his pamper off whenever it was wet so we knew being wet started to bother him. We bought him another more simpler potty and he took to it with no problems! We let him walk around with his underwear on and I urged him to go to the potty every maybe 30 minutes to an hour just to remind him. If he had an accident, then we’d let him walk around naked for a little while. I noticed he NEVER had accidents when he was naked! He’s now 2yrs and 8 months and rarely has accidents. He even holds his pee overnight and pee in the morning when he wakes up. We still put him on pull-ups overnight and when we go out for long periods of time just to be safe. Sometimes he’ll have accidents overnight or if he’s outside playing and having “tooooo much fun” he’ll have an accident. However for him to not even be 3 yet I think he’s doing pretty darn well !
I noticed you have to let him be in control. Initially I felt like we tried to force him to use the potty and it didn’t work because he didn’t see the point if he could just go in his pamper. But he soon realized he didn’t like the way it felt being wet so he then was looking for other options, That’s when we swooped in with captain potty! Lol we also bought books that depicted the characters using the potty. Whenever he did go on the potty we did the happy potty dance and that got him really excited! Now he only uses his potty late at night and early in the morning, during the day he uses the toilet. Or if he has to poop he uses the toilet.
** We also moved the potty from the restroom to his bedroom because we felt it was easier for him. He was in his room often and seeing the potty there helped remind him to go.
I wish you nothing but luck, just have patience and be consistent... he’ll go ❤️
I started my son around 15/16 months and took him a week to train! I really believe he was at the right age to understand. I didn’t do the naked method.. it was just a huge mess. I went to Target, let him pick his undies then when we got home I told him these are your big boy underwear.. he peed himself once and realized how disgusting it was and just started going to the potty. I never forced him on the potty. Letting him watch videos of kids using the potty helped too and seeing us use the bathroom. Also I never entertained him on the potty either so he knew the bathroom is only for business lol you just have to be consistent. Every morning straight to the potty, before leaving the house etc. keeping one in the car was handy as well! Before going into the store and after the store.. good luck mama!! You can do it
My son kept using pull ups like diapers and would just go in them so I put him in normal undies and bought some adult incontinence liners.. he hateddddd them! So it was enough for him to be pushed to use the potty because I told him if he stopped peeing his pants he wouldn’t need to wear them anymore :)
@taylorsmommy1017, gotcha I think they closed already but I think Walmart have some
