So mommies, only the ones that were induced. What should I expect? I've been never induced before...

Had 4 inductions all less then 2 hours from breaking my water. Strong contractions but went fast n perfectly healthy babies. Recovery was simple for me.

I was induced. It was 9 hours total and I pushed baby out in 20 minutes. First they put folly bulb in to dilate me. That took a few hours but not too long. Then they let me eat dinner and then broke my water. I got epidural after that and it only halfway worked and made my blood pressure drop so I had to get a shot of epinephrine but then I was fine. Except the fact that the epidural didn’t numb my vag so I felt her coming out. Had a 2nd degree tear but everything was fine and no issues with baby. I was induced due to high blood pressure

Edit: I forgot to mention I was given pitocin obviously to get things going after I ate dinner and before they broke my water and had the pitocin pumping all the way up until she was born.

I did not want to be induced but I had to be for preeclampsia. It was a 49 and a half hour process. It wasn’t too bad until my water was broken. I was a 2 when they broke my water and baby was born 4 and a half hours later.

I was induced for high bp . Cervix was closed . Gave me medicine to open and soften my cervix , I started dilating on my own . Never needed pitocin . Labored and dilated for 12 hrs . Water broke on its on at 4 cm . Got the epidural then . Dilated quickly , but was so tired from being woken up every hour for cervix meds I couldn’t push . Ended up having an episiotomy and my daughter being pulled out by vacuum .

I just got induced a week ago. I had a great experience and wouldn’t change a thing. They gave me a pill that helped soften my cervix/get me dialed. I had two doses of that then I started the patocin.... once I got that my contractions were bad af so I got the epidural which worked 100% my water broke on it’s own laying in the bed. I pushed for 30 mins and didn’t feel a thing

@sheenese17 well they make you get up within 12 hours to start walking again because you have to in order to heal well but it took a good month for me to feel better and able to completely do things on my own

I was induced with my first, I ended up in labor for nearly 2 days, the pain was terrible and the damn lazy night nurse wouldn't let me labor in a tub so I had no choice but to get the epidural and that worked for a little while until I kept feeling pain like I was super constipated and then it did nothing (I may have forgot to push the button though 😅) but after everything I ended up needing a csection

@sheenese17, you’ll be fine though don’t let it stress you out! Like I said everyone is different you might have the smoothest easiest labor ever!

It’s different for everyone but the contractions were what really sucked for me. They were extremely intense. The best way I heard them described was that you don’t get a build up like you do in natural labor. Usually you can feel it coming and prepare and breathe through it but when you’re getting pitocin the contractions just hit at the peak and they hit hard. At least that’s how it was for me.

@tayler, my epidural was put in wrong. Omg the pain! I didn’t care if I died lol. It sucked

First 6 hours of labor, pain was bad but I got the walking epidural. The second, 7 hours of labor, failed epidural so the pain was beyond belief. Had contractions for 24 hours after due from them giving me high doses of pitocin trying to dilate me faster. I recovered fine. I liked it cause you know when you are having your baby lol. It’s weird when they break your water cause they use what looks like a crochet hook 😂

:/ I’m sorry dear I really hope you have a great experience they are already talking about inducing me when the time comes. I think if I have to be this time I might opt for the epidural.

With my son i was induce. Labor totaled 15 and a half hours. They gave me pitocin to start contractions and put a balloon in my uterus to open the cervix. After 3 hours of pushing he was here. With my daughter i was induced too. Labor was 3 days from start to finish. They did 2 doses of cervadil and a pill to open my cervix. None worked. Finally they forced themselves in my cervix and broke my water. Twelve hours later i was able to push. She came out in 5 min. So every induction story is different because doctors use different methods to induce. Which one is your doc using?

I was induced with both of my girls. Each time was different. First time it was great, labor was only 6 hours and recovery was great. Second time, it hurt a lot worse but I do believe the epidural failed with my second.
