Hi ladies, How do I discipline a 2 year old 🤦🏻 ♀ ?

The only thing that works with my son is time outs. Whenever he acts up I put him in time out for as long as I feel is necessary. I tell him he cannot move until I say so and when he calms down I talk to him and explain why he can't do what he did that put him there

What are they doing that you feel needs disciplined?

My favorite that works to this day is counting. I used to count and then spank him on his butt (not hard but enough) and I only had to do it once. Now if he isn’t listening I yell “1!!!!! 2!!!!! 3!!!!!” And by 3 he normally listens and if not I stand up or take a step forward and then he listens :)

I do two things. I get on the floor on her eye level and ask her nicely to do something. On a patient day I give her 5-6 try’s. Sometimes I only do 3. If she doesn’t listen, then I put her on her time out chair. For 2 minutes, I plan to increase the minutes with her age. So when she turns 3 she will get 3 minutes. Once time out is over I grab her and ask her to listen to me again, (like picking up her toys).

Another thing I do is punish according to her behavior or whatever it is that she’s doing wrong. If she’s watching tv too close and I repeatedly asked her to move away and sit down but she doesn’t do it, I warn her “I’m going to turn it off.” By the last try, if she doesn’t listen, I turn the t.v off.

I either timeout or take away whatever he was playing with. He does get a warning or two though. Sometimes that's all he needs.
