It’s a sad day my 8yo has outgrown his car seat😢. His car seat forward facing is up to 65lbs and 51inches tall. My son is 66.5lbs and exactly 51 inches. Guess I gotta go find a booster for him. Does Diono make boosters?
@modom16, not this one unfortunately. It’s from 8 years ago before they even took on the diono name.
@desert_chick, oh wow at least you got some good use out of it, that’s awesome. I would definitely go with a high back booster though I’ve heard those are safer than backless! Not sure of any brands we’re not at that stage yet and my sons britax will eventually turn into a booster.
@mamabird228, I didn’t know that car seats expire! Just went out to the car to check my other kids seats. Thanks! Learned something new today😉
@modom16, yea we definitely want a high back, he falls asleep on long road trips and likes to lean his head on the wing things up top.
@curious.george, I still had the Manual and referenced that to the manufacturer date on the car seat. This one was good for 8 years, but it was manufactured in 2007. So it was well past the expiration date. Thank goodness nothing happened. I checked for my other 2 dionos and they are good for 10 years.

@squishymommy1, I will check in not those as well, we don’t need to drive anywhere in the next few days. So I have a little time to research seats. Diono was my first thought because I loved the car seats so much.
From what I know dionos are no longer recommended for several reasons. If you have Facebook- Car Seats for the Littles is a great group run by several CPSTs. They can give you recommendations based on your child stats, car specs & budget.
@desert_chick, was he in a 5 point harness until now? I’m just wondering because I’m not sure when to switch my 5&1/2 year old from the harness to a high back booster
@ss3mom, keep him in it as long as the car seat will allow. We just bought a new one that allows up to 65lbs. At the rate my kiddo is going I’ll be bringing him to middle school in a 5pt 😂
@laniejay, yea that’s my plan. I have to check the Manual he’s about 55lbs right now
@ss3mom, what seat do you have for him? Definitely keep him harnessed as long as possible!
Love our Britax Frontier 90!! Our small 8yr old son is still harnessed!
@justgotaname, just looked at some of the specs on this one after seeing your recommendation. And I like it, I like it a lot. Plus I can keep my son in a 5pt harness a little while longer. 😊 Thank You!
@desert_chick, I have the britax frontier as well it’s an amazing seat. Out of all the ones I’ve researched it has the highest limits for keeping them harnessed! The 90 is the older model and the clicktight is the newest one I believe, makes for such an easy install.
@desert_chick, 8yo and 5yo both have it! The 8 year old is moaning about being harnessed...but...I’m still resisting. My husband is starting to say switch it to the booster. I said, we already have the seat, he’s a skinny kid within the limits of the harness. Just picture him flying through the air, like I do.
Anyway...it’s a great seat and you can find sales on it too. 😊

@justgotaname, I don’t want my son in a regular seat belt yet. He would probably just play with it or try to stick it behind his back. My husband thinks I’m to “overprotective”, but can be to safe when it come to kiddos in the car. Especially considering that we do a lot of off-roading as well.
@badwolfmomma15, dionos are no longer recommended because they over-inflate their RF & FF limits, change limits/instructions with out informing consumers, the booster function has a very high minimum weight, so most kids outgrow the 5 or harness before they can use the booster with seat belt
