I agree with previous post.. they need to show signs they are ready.. I had a friend who tried to start at 6 months which was dumb since the baby only crawled.. but to each his own.. anyways she had such a hard time enforcing it once the child got old enough to know what was happening.. it was like early potty rebellion.. I started my son at 2 years old by just having him get used to peeing on command.. I live in the country so I would take him outside and have him go around the yard and pee on random things like a rock or a tree so he could get used to making himself go on command.. then introducing the potty was pretty simple after that.. but he wasn’t poop potty trained or fully potty trained if you will until last week and he is almost 4.
Every kid is different. I started potty training my son at 2, but he wasn’t fully potty trained until 4. My brother potty trained himself at 18 months. They will typically show interest in using the potty when they’re ready, so take their lead.
