Anyone else not taking prenatals? I feel like the worst mom ever! I couldn’t take any at first bc they smelled and tasted sooo bad to me and the huge pills gagged me. Now I just keep forgetting to!!! :(
I forget alot added a reminder on my phone still forget sometimes even with that
I personally do take them, but I know tons of mothers who don't and just make it a priority to eat super healthy. I dont think they are a requirement at all even if you don't eat healthy though... I mean back in the day prenatal vitamins didnt exist and babies were still healthy.
@sassychef135, I take the gummy vitafusion as well. Wasn’t sure if I would have side effects from them so I take them right before bed. Been taking for almost two years (started taking when we first started TTC) haven’t had any issues with them
I took them until 10 weeks but I stopped because sometimes I would gag them back up and I just dreaded taking them. And I didn’t take them every day because I forgot so it was like every other day. I’m 36 weeks now and he’s very active and everything looked fine at the anatomy scan and he even measured a day ahead. I don’t believe my sister in law took them either and her kids have asthma but I believe that’s from her smoking one cigarette after another while pregnant and even around them in a unventilated room. Plus their dad had it
Baby takes what it needs from you. Prenatal vitamins are for your benefit. I only took them with my first the whole way through and with each of my other kids for the first trimester... All 4 of my babies were born perfectly healthy.
With my first I was taking pregvits, there was 2 pills, 1 morning 1 night. The morning one made me sick but I still took them the whole time. I tried them again this time and I just I couldn't do, I kept forgetting to take one of them, so I switched to gummies, they taste good and seems like I'm just eating 2 pieces of candy. I still forget to take them sometimes, baby is healthy so I'm not worried.
@sassychef135 If you're worried bout the baby talk to your doctor. The ultrasound and bloodwork should help you feel better.
I’m just so afraid something is going to be wrong with baby bc I didn’t take them early on, while everything important was developing
@aengs2, they do! But about 1 week in I got heart burn every time I took them 😭 so now I have to take the huge pill
I agree with @jellybeans_mumm, the prenatals help with us more than anything! I take them to regulate my hormones and my depression! I can tell a huge difference if I haven’t taken them in a while 😂 and so can my baby daddy
The biggest concern would be that baby is stealing all nutrients you're getting from food. If you don't take one, it could definitely impact you negatively. My friend didn't take prenatals and it caused her to break a tooth because baby was taking all of her calcium. I like NatureMade Prenatal + DHA. DHA is important for brain development. The ones I take don't smell or taste bad at all! If you can't swallow a big pill, at the very least you can try gummies. They usually don't have iron but it's better than nothing. Some of them have DHA too and taste good. It's also important to take them after birth especially if you're breastfeeding. Good luck!
@sassychef135, no he was born super healthy. the prenatals are for us Mother’s not so much the babies it’s to replace what the baby takes
Nope I don’t take them ! My doctor said it was okay not to and jst to make sure I eat a certain amount of red meat a week for iron
@jellybeans_mumm, was anything wrong with your baby? Or underdeveloped? Any complications?
