So I’m in Target with my 9 y/o and I go to pick up panty liners. She looks at me confused and asked, “why do you need pads if you’re pregnant? ... I thought pregnant women don’t get their period!” 😳 I wasn’t ready!

I started my periods when I was 9 so it’s good for them to know what periods are

Lawd know my mom didn't teach me. I was scared to tell her when I first got mine. So I need to remember this for when my girls get older. Plus when my found out my niece began hers was after she was about to fight me for a Twix! So I rather be prepared.

My daughter is almost 12 and I've been talking to her about hygiene and periods since she was about 9 and she keeps pads in her bookbag incase she starts at school. The dr told me to talk to her about it early so shes not freaked out when she starts bleeding.

It’s definitely a good age for her to know about menstruation. It’s better for girls to be prepared beforehand than to get freaked out from bleeding ya know? I started my period at 9 years old and I’m so glad my mom told me about it ahead of time. You’re doing great!

@lana30319, we’ve spoken about menstruation but not to that extent. I was so damn shocked that I didn’t even follow up with a suitable answer. It made me realize she’s really not a baby anymore and this weekend we are definitely going out to have some one on one time. 🤦🏾‍♀️

Seriously? She already know that much? Is this from school or just info she picked up somewhere?
