So I watch a 3 year old and a baby born at 32weeks. He is now almost 4 months old on the 8th. He’s been getting rice cereal in his milk since two months because that’s what his mommy wants me to do. I have such a hard time getting it out of the bottle and Dakota GETS PISSED when it doesn’t come out. He spits up a lot too. Can someone give me some advice? I’ve tried asking his mother but she just insists on giving him rice. She’s actually already mixed it in his formula. He doesn’t sleep longer at all he’s still hungry every 3-4 hours and he barely poops at all. Like honestly maybe 2-3 times a week and I see them 5x a week. Should o stop giving him rice?

I run a daycare out of my home. I do what ever it is my parents ask of me because that Is my job. I’m not the parent. The opening of the nipple however could be the problem. It may be to small for the rice to come out so ask her about going up a size or stretching the opening a little bit to see if it helps. Just let her know he gets frustrated and that you think the rice can’t come out fast enough for the babies liking so you are trying to find a solution. It’s hard watching other people’s children and following their rules but it’s their child so either follow the rules or stop watching kids. Obviously if I thought a child was being harmed in anyway I wouldnt allow that.
Maybe ask if you can give it to him by spoon? I mean it's her baby her choice you can't really say you aren't gonna do it cause it's her baby her choice. Unless you dont need the money in that cause you could do that but she would probably just take him somewhere else.
@butterflymom3, that’s a good point. I’ve never heard of giving rice cereal to preemies. What is it supposed to do? Just help weight gain?
The rice cereal is probably to help him gain weight. I honestly find that its better to give it by spoon. Since she already mix it may b try pouring it out and add lil more milk. Sounds like it too thick
I can see why you are in a tough spot because the mother is telling you to do it but that is such a choking hazard and how is this baby getting enough nutrition when all his bottlers are full of rice cereal?! And he was born two months early so he is really only like a 2 month old now! Honestly I would refuse to do it and tell her it’s dangerous and baby isn’t getting proper nutrition and she needs to ask his pediatrician what to do if she is concerned about his sleep or reflux...
Is there a specific reason she has to give him rice ? My twins were born at 31 weeks and the doctor put them on rice cereal while in the nicu. It was hard for them to keep weight on because they vomit alot due to reflux. They are still on rice to this day and sometimes I get frustrated with it but they are gaining weight. So I follow what the doctors say 🤷🏽♀️. Idk if this helps or not, just in a similar situation
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
When can I start giving my son regular milk? He turns 10 months in 2 days. I bought unsweetened almond milk yesterday so he can try. Would that be okay? I’m lowkey tired of him on formula but I mean he’s still a baby lol.
I think my husband is cheating on me 😔he’s been acting really different. There are times he doesnt text back or answer his phone. He’ll block me or turn off his phone. Then he’s gone for hours at a time and he doesn’t want me to go anywhere with him. Today he changed my name in his phone and deleted a whole bunch of stuff.
What’s a good sippy cup to use for bed time and nap time? Noah only gets a bottle at those times or if we are running errands and he’s getting tired I give it to him other than that he uses sippy cups and he’s not picky with them
