Here’s a question. I heard it said once that some people in other parts of the country that have never been down here to Texas think it’s still like the Wild West around here or something. That we all are riding horses and wearing cowboy hats. Has anybody else ever heard or thought that? Just curious what kind of rep we have up there lol!
@airwren123, yeah they do. But I’m used to seeing them ride horses in NYC as well. I think it’s fairly common.
@montymama, wow how cool! Lol I don’t see that much on the Houston side of Texas
@irisdiaz33 I live in a small town SW of Odessa about 2 hrs, I’m from a big city though so this was culture shock for sure I wasn’t expecting it
@montymama, really? Where are you? I’m in Austin and have never seen anyone on horses 😂
I will say tho that I have seen a tumbleweed cross the road once when I lived in Hutto TX 😂
Where I live in Texas is like that, my neighbors ride their horses to church during the week, it’s the epitome of the wild Wild West
I think of Texas as super conservative, totally into highschool football, lots of religious people, and most people walking around with guns on their hips. Not all areas of Texas, but that’s my stereotypical image of Texas as a whole (except Austin).
Australia...I spent a month there and you DO have crazy insects! But I had so much fun and met some of the most fun people. Would love to go back!
@ek620, @mamagunn.no.1, lmao I’d be lying if I said I never thought that about either of those places 😬😂
It's like everyone thinks that here in Australia, we ride Kangaroos around and that everywhere has a deadly snake and spider infestation and that we all talk like crocodile dundee 😂😂😂 it's so not like that at all!
It’s okay. Everyone thinks Alaska is an island & that we all live in igloos or log cabins. 🙄
@notcreative0416 well I'm jealous they even have horses. People around my little area ride horses now that the weather is getting nicer.
@ohnstadk, haha no I don’t have that problem. Everybody pretty much knows where Texas is 😂
@cak1985, yes there is definitely towns where that does happen! Actually I kinda wish I lived in one of those areas lol. I do have family that owns horses but they don’t ride them into town or anything.
Went threw Texas once(well a few times but this was the only time I seen this). Stopped in a smallish town where a girl and boy in cowboy hats did ride horses to the local store. It made me jealous actually. But stopped in a bigger city and of course no is riding horses in the street, some were wearing cowboys hats but no Texas is up to date lol. People are just weird and think a lot of the west is not with the times. Heard it a few times.
I went to a youth convention when I was in high school and kept being asked if it was part of another country or a city in a certain state
@kelsey19, that’s crazy! 😂 @yayacarrington, lol honestly I picture Utah, Wyoming, Montana area as all rural, cowboy, country farm land where everyone has horses. But that might be because of some Disney movie that I don’t even remember the name of that was set in Montana lol
I was born and raised in Texas. I've never owned cowboy boots or hats and we never drove a truck. It's a lot more rural in Utah than it was in Texas.
I’m from a state near Texas but currently living on the east coast. When my coworkers found out where I was from one of them seriously asked me if I grew up with running water. 🤦🏻♀️
@caylee.henk, lol we replied at the same time. Yes most people don’t wear their cowboy boots on a regular day. Mostly just for country concerts or the rodeo lol
This is so funny to me! I mean yes a lot of people have horses and even more people have cowboy boots and hats, but it’s definitely modern not the old west. But I think I’m ok with people thinking it is 😂😂
Texas here too and that's so outdated! 😂 we have our regular farmers and ranchers but we are updated on technology and most people do not wear boots and have horses.
I want to think so and I am North E. Lol
I pray that if I visit I could see cowboys bahhahaahahha like in the movies. I do not picture TX with modern day life but that is just me being kind of silly.
I know it is not Western Days
There’s more country folk in Arizona than I ever saw in Texas.
