I would just be completely honest. Stick with the original and say exactly how YOU feel. Not what anyone else thinks you should feel!

I’ve never heard of the courts asking what you think the punishment should be.. that’s odd. Also your mother is crazy if she thinks the parents relationship doesn’t affect the child. A child witnessing domestic violence is just as bad as the child being the victim. Causes tremendous emotional trauma on the child. Even children who don’t actually witness domestic violence usually sense that it’s happening. I think you should ignore your mother and write an honest letter about how YOU feel and what you think.

@tacos4lyfe I was surprised when I got the letter I felt it odd too it said the judge & prosecutor wanted to know my feelings, how the incident changed my life & what I think his sentence should be

Write how you feel, not what she thinks... It's not her place at all. And I agree with @bcsweetie, if he can put his hands on a woman there's nothing stopping him from hurting your child. Relationships absolutely effect children, I left my son's father because he was unstable and had put his hands on me before and was abusive in so many other ways...

@bcsweetie @krs1415 she said he's still young & he's happy & don't even know what's going on but my son is 2 & he knows when somebody is sad mad or happy & I feel as though children can feel the tension between their parents Ik i did I suggested he take counseling or anger management & some type of parenting class & she said oh don't put that you're just making it easier for me but that's how I feel . Him going to jail isn't going to change him or teach him a lesson

Write exactly what you feel. How you felt in the seconds, minutes, and days afterwards. Write about what may still deal with.

In a situation like this you gotta go with your heart and don't let anyone's opinion get in your way. Do what's best for you and stick with it

I got the same letter in my case against my ex husband. Please write what YOU feel and what you think should happen. Being young or not is no excuse. In my experience if they do it once they will do it again.

@deejd being young is no excuse as you mentioned your man is...I was 16 ,married at 18& divorced my husband at 21 ABUSE doesn't get better gets worse ...If he can hit &starve a pregnant woman..He is capable of hitting your child/1 wrong fall or punch to a child or yourself can kill you (his hands are dangerous) just giving you some advice..leave that situation..No on e is in your exact shoes but,you be safe 💓...and if you think jail isn't for him..who is it for. Tell him to go beat on a Fuc$# Real Man..and get help for his deep issues where he thinks there are NO consequences to his bad actions! That's reality

@deejd I sent the judge a 10page letter and his ass was deported back to Brazil after going to prison .he still hits women his Mom said..so... I'm grateful I left and never have to deal with him again

@sherrynygirl oh wow but I am glad that you left hopefully one day he learns his lesson I wrote my letter but I didn't submit it yet & I felt like I was being to sensitive to him in the letter but after he told me today he was going to call child services on me just because I don't let him see my son & he said I deserved to get hit Im now typing my letter over I want the judge to know how bad he treats me & my son

@deejd write from your heart...rem your child now is a little boy .....this isn't a role model..no one is perfect and we all have faults. He's manipulating you..so he can have control ....another form of abuse..yes met a real man yrs later who loved my 1st son like his own

I'm not into breaking up anyone's relationship.. while a woman is pregnant is stressful enough but,,when a man crosses that line it's hard to respect that shit...I have 3 son's , 2are way older I always tell and taught my son's never dare put your hand on a woman
