Quick question : So Bout a week and half ago I decided to start doing acrylic nailz. Bought a whole lot of stuff to start doing them BUT I recently found out I'm expecting and I'm hearing Its not safe to get nailz done 😑😒 Is that true??? 🤔
I am not a nail tech by any means. In saying that...every time you go into a salon the techs have masks on. So I would say there is something to be concerned about 🤷🏾♀️.
I'm a licensed nail tech.....there is no direct harm to baby in getting your nails done while pregnant! However, overexposure to certain fumes and products is harmful to YOU. It's important to know that if you can really smell the fumes from an acrylic...it's the wrong acrylic. That acrylic is made for your teeth and has an agent called MMA in it. It is used in most discount, walk-in salons because it is significantly cheaper. Most respectable nail techs are using the appropriate acrylic, which costs more but smells much different. So if you walk into a salon and you just smell acrylic very strong, chances are it's the harmful acrylic and not the safe one. But it's more harmful to you and your nails versus baby. Agood trick is to ask your tech what brand acrylic they use and to show you the jar it came in....if they can't tell you, then that's a red flag. If the jar is generic looking, or has no brand name....another red flag. If they do give you a name, Google it and see if it has MMA. But most brand names wont.
@mommyof2blessings., yeah I think it’s that. I really think that’s fine, I’m sure it you ask your ob they’ll tell you most things are just people exaggerating.
@leslyev92 thanks so much love. Goign to go do them now. I just had to ask y'all ladies kus I know a few years back my sister got her done while pregnant so I thought maybe something changes since then to why they assuming it's bad
@kyns.muva @leslyev92 @skymomof4 @jellybeans_mumm oh yeah they was also saying don't use the UV nail dryer because it send some kind of ways to baby or something like that😂😂😂
@mommyof2blessings., yeah just like they do it at the salon, in my first trimester the smell would kill me but I HAD to get them done so I would just ask for a mask and get them done that way. I think as long as you’re covered you should be fine.
@leslyev92 Thank you that's what they was saying the fumes but yes glad it's okay i will wear something to cover my nose if the doc says something about it
🤷🏻♀️ I continue to get mine done... never heard of it being bad. I would say it probably has to do with the fumes & smell so just be careful w that I’d say. You can always ask your ob.
@jellybeans_mumm @skymomof4 okay thanks ladies what a relief. Alot of people was saying the fumes was bad to inhale during pregnancy idk. Kindof got upset since I spent so much money but hey I'll give it a try even if I wear a nose mask thingy lol
