How much rent does she want you to pay? If you’re going to pay rent I’m assuming you can afford 800$ since that’s what you pay in groceries just make sure you no longer buy groceries for the entire house.

I know it’s rough but it sounds like it’s a part of growing up.

@mrs.jay__x grandma is too old and very ill. Others are in h.s still and my brother just a 19 yr old brat who gets to do whatever. My mom wont allow the others to work til they are 18

Forgive me for this but... the fuck do y'all eat? 😂😂😂 we are a family of 7. But I feed at least 10 people (family members), atleast 2 fulls meals a day, and I have never spent that much on groceries?

If you’re going to be paying rent then you will only be needing to provide food for yourself and your child. HER children and mother should be her own responsibility.

@teresha_h, sounds like she’s using you. You NEED to stay in school, though. You said you could stay with other family in the meantime and still continue with your education? I’d pick that option for sure. It’s hard enough being a single mom, trying to better yourself with schooling. You don’t need extra stress and drama on top of it.

I moved back with my parents when I had my son and wanted to get my degree. I paid $650 a month for rent (this was 15 years ago) and was their house keeper essentially to help out. I bought our food, she bought theirs. I did cook every night also. I also babysat for them. It was a huge convenience for them and it felt like I was being taken advantage of sometimes, but once I was on my own- I realized how much it had done for me. Maybe you can sit down and have a contract with her. That you’ll give her $x, but detail what that’s for and what else you’re willing to do.

@pettybetty, it depends on where you live, what you eat, etc. We eat organic, very little processed foods and a lot of fresh ingredients.

I agree with @cams it does sound like you are being used. I'm assuming you help with chores? And feed and bathe your own kid? Does your family baby sit? Do you have an arrangement for that? If you are taking care of yours, and cleaning your far share, groceries *OR* rent would be acceptable, not both.

@laniejay Yeah I get that but we also buy organic, locally grown and raised, mostly name brand.... still no where near that. 🤷‍♀️
