So what the people at the humane society didn’t tell me about this dog is that he has a humping…

@fuhgeddaboudit, I’m going to try my best to work with him, he’s an older dog and I wouldn’t want to take him back to the humane society he’s been there a long time! But it’s going to take a lot to get him where he needs to be 😩

@blakeslatinmama, thank you! We got him from the petco location but the humane society is set up through them I may give them a call if what I try doesn’t help the training is expensive lol

@fuhgeddaboudit, yeah! Other than these issues he’s a really good dog, he’s cuddled up with mauriz right now watching dinosaurs lol so I’m willing to work with him!

It sounds like he’s trying to be the alpha. Some obedience training would probably work wonders

@mommy_x3, I would try contacting the humane society and letting them know the issues you have. Tell them that extremely upset and should have been made aware of these issues and that you would like for them to pay for training classes.

It doesn’t hurt to try.

You need to show him he's not the alpha. You can't back down when he growls

@badwolfmomma15, didn’t think about that lol I’ll give that a try cause the training classes are expensive, and they should’ve made me aware of the issues he has before adopting him out to us!

@newlyironman, I tell him no and to go to his bed when he growls, he responds good to it.. it’s just the fact i wasn’t notified of these things before we adopted him 😐 I’m going to have to work a lot with him probably to get him out of his ways

My mil adopted a dog from the humane society. She’s extremely aggressive. Growls and even try’s to bite. Very territorial about her food and bed.They never made her aware of how aggressive she is. I think that’s extremely inappropriate. Especially since she made it very clear that she has other dogs at home.

@badwolfmomma15, yeah I guess they do it everywhere then cause I was very unaware of this! I don’t understand why they do that, they could be putting people in danger by not letting them know 🤦🏻‍♀️ is your mil dog still like that?

There supposed to check all dogs for aggression with food and toys b4 letting the dog be available for adoption.. I'd honestly take the dog back if it's doing that especially with children around.. You can't teach a old dog new tricks

I’m pretty sure the dog will outgrow it . You got to think, he is probably like this because he has been cooped up for so long this is all he knows!! With a little training and love , I’m sure the dog will know y’all are there to love him and not abandon him.

@mommy_x3, her dog has come a long way. She’s definitely doing better but still has her moments. My SIL is the one trying to train her.
