My baby’s on formula but I wanna breastfeed again , but I’ve been taking tylonal codein 3 or whatever and I was wondering how long do I wait for it to come out of my system to breastfeed again? Like how long do prescription drugs stay in your system ? I had a c section and now I’m feeling ok to breastfeed
Aw dang thanks girls for y’all help I called my doc and she said it was fine! Thank god because i was in pain from my csection but I was about to say fuck it and just nurse my baby :/ being a mother is about sacrificing but thank god I can nurse and still feel better
You never had to give formula. It's safe to nurse with.
When in doubt check lactmed or infant risk.
- So we STRUGGLED in the hospital with latching. The lactation nurse gave me a shield to use. It was just my right side we fought with. My favorite picture, he’s three days old, and he had finally latched in without the shield. It was such a great feeling. And the way he’s looking at me. It just looks like a baby feeding if you don’t know the struggle behind it 😅 my mom stayed with me in the hospital. So I didn’t pick him up much. But then again he was only in that bassinet when I was being checked or going potty. He was always in my arms. Or my moms. I recommend the shield fully. It’s so helpful! Just remember to be patient. I hope you can figure it out! Don’t hesitate to call your hospital and speak with lactation. Yes hehe IT IS SAFE TO TAKE YOUR PAIN MEDS AND BREASTFEED YOUR LITTLE GUY 💙 I really hope you get to experience it. Breastfeeding is the most frustrating and rewarding experience all at once 😅 pumping is a pain for me 😅 I had to pump for my surgery. 🤦🏻♀️ I’ve never been so frustrated IN MY LIFE! Omg. Hehe I hope you heal quick. It’s so important to walk. And I didn’t take my belly band off hardly ever. I’m actually wearing it right now over my incisions 🤦🏻♀️I had my gallbladder removed yesterday, it’s not just part of my lack of fashion 😅
@beccaaalynnn11, yes the gas was the worst part!! I couldn’t pass gas for the life of me it hurt so bad and I didn’t want to breastfeed in pain .. I couldn’t even get up to pick him got enjoyment i was hurt , and very upset but now I’m home feeling better and I’m still making milk unbelievably lol so I wanna give my little man what he deserves but right now I’m having a huge problem with him latching i might have to pump and give it to him through a bottle ☹️
@beccaaalynnn11, and also what I’m getting is that It is safe? Right ? Because the breastfeeding thing is new to me since I didn’t get to do it with my daughter
- The worst part of my csection was the gas pain, mine was up under my neck and shoulders. I didn’t take the medicine once I got home, I took ibuprofen for inflamation. But I wasn’t chasing a toddler around. I was crying in bed mostly. 😅 I’m actually dealing with that gas pain again today 🤦🏻♀️ caved and took half a Norco. So as you know, newborns sleep close to 23 hours a day 😅 so worst case scenario, your little guy sleeps. 😅 He’ll be fine! 💙I couldn’t sleep either. I just watched him. I didn’t sleep for several days. Maybe an entire week before I finally crashed. I had a lot going on, on top of meeting my angel.
Awesome! I’m all for breastfeeding. Not very good at hiding my huge breast in public though 😅 can I ask, why was he taking bottles ?
@beccaaalynnn11, omg girl I had a c section too! And I breastfed him last night forgetting I’m on meds and I felt so bad idk I was so emotional I stared at him all night cause I didn’t want anything to happen to him , but I’m reading a lot of you mommy’s breast fed while on meds and I was on narcos at the hospital but he was bottle fed , but I’m trying to get him on my breast again so I’m just wondering if it could do anything to him but yes I am still making lots of milk , and yes I do want to still take them because they help me with my pain from my c section and it makes my day a lot easier especially with my toddler but I’m worried if I breastfeed with him on it it’ll get him drowsy or all messed up :/
- If you’re truly worried about it, you can schedule your pill taking after you’ve just fed baby boy 💙
- I didn’t answer your question 🤦🏻♀️ so, Tylenol 3 has a half life of 3-4 hours depending on your body. Your doctor definitely would not prescribe you something that’s not safe for baby ❤️ half life just means that’s how long it takes to leave your system. Of course it works for 4-6 hours. Your baby gets some portion of everything that goes in your body. But definitely safe! Congratulations on your new addition 🎉💙
- So after my csection I was on cod 3 and Norco, (which is stronger) and I breastfed my baby. I just had surgery yesterday, I’m nursing him today and taking , well I took Norco last night to sleep, but my nursing safe prescription is Tylenol 3. Which is what you’re taking. Are you making milk ? Did that help ?
I had a csection and was breastfeeding in the hospital for the whole week they kept us while still taking hydrocodone.
As long as you don't feel the affects of it you are fine to breastfeed. I had to take T3 for a gallbladder surgery, it is not safe for breastfeeding. Usually 8 hours after your last dose and you are fine.
@beccaaalynnn11, can maybe help here
also, i had 4th degree tears and took hydrocodeine every.. 4 hours? for pain, and i've breastfed since birth
- But of course! I’m here if you’ve got any other questions 🙂 I hardly got out of bed my first week home. But then stupidly week three I felt completely normal, and I lifted a box. Ended up giving myself both external and internal hemorrhoids 🤦🏻♀️ SMH, he’s 12 weeks old now and I’m probably going to have to have a third surgery to fix them 🙄 Follow the six week healing process! 😅💙#boxwasntevenheavy
