Joint custody?
Today, I went to see my son's father's attorney to sign paperwork establishing paternity, child support, and visitation rights. Unfortunately, she wasn't there to go over anything, but she left the terms of agreement for me to sign. Well, while looking at the paperwork, I saw several things that I absolutely did NOT agree with, so I decided to not sign the paperwork without my lawyer being there and without having spoken to their attorney. Before I left, I asked her paralegal in the office who had given me the papers if he could print out a copy for my records. He stepped off to call my son's father's attorney and when he came back, he said "I'm sorry, but I can't make a copy because she doesn't represent you. She's also not to see or speak with you because she doesn't represent you. According to her, you knew the terms of the agreement and were only coming in to sign them." Yeah.... Except I DIDN'T. Well, I told him this and he goes on to say "Well don't sign it." Cool. And I leave. I've not spoken to my son's father in months. Literally every exchange that I've had with anyone on his end has been with his mother. When I have something to say about my son, I talk to her. When they want to see him, she picks him up... So I called her and asked her if we could negotiate on some things and she goes on to tell me that either I agree with what her son wants me to do or they take me to family court.
