Scariest wake up call

So this morning all the sudden I hear a loud shriek coming from Mariella's room so I jump out of bed and run to here room. She had her leg stuck in the slates of the crib, literally up to her thigh, she was on her stomach and some how got her leg in there and the other one was sticking straight up in the air and she was trying to roll over. I got her out and it seems okay, she whimpered for like 15 minutes but she's moving it fine now. My question is, is it safe to use the mesh bumpers now or is it still a huge SIDS risk?
