Breastfeeding/pumping question
I've posted before about my awful experience with breastfeeding my other two kids and not having the necessary support back then ?I'm breastfeeding again this time and so far, so good. He has a hard time latching sometimes but after a few tries we make it work (he was born at 37 weeks, so maybe that could be why?!). My nipples do still hurt when he first latches, but I assume that's normal?

Pump in the morning after baby has nursed, see how that goes before you add on more pumping sessions as oversupply and engorgement can suck too. I find the morning is when I seem to have more. Your never really "empty" so don't worry about that. If I don't plan on using it right away I put it in a medela breastmilk freezer bag, date it then pop it in the deep freezer.
I have the haakaa and it's great, worth the $25. Yesterday doing both boobs I got just under 4 oz, this morning only did one boob as we had to rush out of the house for family photos and I got I think 2oz, didn't take very long and less cleanup than a pump. I also have the medela freestyle but haven't used it this time.

Thank you tanmac! ? I will definitely try that. I watched some YouTube videos about the haakaa and it looks pretty amazing!

If his latch is still painful try putting more of your areola in his mouth. I was pumping every 3 hours with my first because the damn doctors insisted she was hungry and cause a little nipple confusion. I used a soothie paci to encourage the suckling on both my babies and they were both great nursers.

Thank you ? Nipple confusion is what I'm worried about too in case the doctor tells me I have to supplement. Hopefully he is getting enough milk and gained some of the weight back. I will try and pump once a day after a feeding and hopefully that will increase my milk supply a little and I can start freezing some for later on when he's a little older.
