Look up Dr Jack Newman. He's a breastfeeding expert and a big proponent of that drug. There's nothing sketchy about it :)

I live in Canada and it is widely prescribed here to help increase milk supply. I was on it for both my kids and it really helps wonders! I was on the recommended dose of 3pills 2 or 3 times daily for lactation. Lower doses don't really help that much my dr told me.

If my doctor doesn't proscribe it how do I get it and how do I know how much to take?

Your LC should work with your doctor to make sure it get prescribed and you know how to take it. Your doctor can give you the prescription (called "off label").

I was on it for a while and found a website where I could buy it without a prescription. They were sealed and no issues. But that website now requires a prescription :(

I wonder why it's not legal in the US? I'm also in Canada and it's legal here.

In your shoes, I wouldn't hesitate to take the medication. From what I've read, it's safe to use, but just not approved specifically for lactation in the US, probably because of a general lack of interest in valuing lactation in general.

I've never heard of it so I'll have to look into it more. I'm a weird I guess, I never take medication unless it's very needed. I wouldn't even take a medication during my csection to help my shaking because I wasn't sure what it really was, and only took the pain meds for 2 days and it was only a couple each day.

It seems like everyone is OK with it on here, I just don't get why it's not OK here if it really works

US is not supportive of off label prescriptions. I agree with september though, having been around the EP/breastfeeding groups for 5 years now I've heard nothing but good accounts of using it.

Just FYI, domperidone can increase the risk of sudden death due to long QT syndrome. I'm not saying don't look into it, but if you know that you have long QT You shouldn't use it. Good luck to you!
