I think it really depends how long your night lasts. If your pumping between 10-11pm then at 7-8am you are going way less then 12 hours so it's not as bad. Your supply is hormonal the first 12-14 weeks so after that you might notice a drop and have to add back in a pump however if it's working now enjoy your sleep :)
So without pumping at night I'm getting about 8 bottles with about 6 to 8 oz in each so I think that should be enough and not lose my supply.
For me pumping at night was super hard. I wanted to sleep!!!! Finally, someone gave us a mini fridge, and we put it right next to the bed. It was awesome! I could pump, roll over and put my milk and pump pieces in the fridge, and go right back to sleep. Wake up and repeat.
I did notice that when I went to work on third shift and my pumping got sporatic at night that my supply tanked. Hopefully that doesn't happen to you!!
They r doing better with feedings then we thought they would. And at their weight check up they gained weight and we're back to their birth weight and normally with clefts it takes longer to gain. They have another appointment Monday so I'm hoping they r still gaining.
I'm finally able to freeze some milk because I've been doing better at pumping. But I'm hoping to be able to go all night without pumping and not lose my supply. I didn't pump all night last night and I still haven't pumped yet because my husband is sleeping and one twin is with him and I have the fussy twin.
I know if I do stop pumping I will probably do donor milk rather then formula.
Milly, I'm not sure if you're also down for donor milk, but there are Facebook groups for certain states called "human milk for human babies" where you can have people donate to you. That way you can stay ahead of the twins. I remember you saying that had cleft lips. How are they doing?
I can't imagine your exhaustion with twins! Look at those sweet faces for motivation. Breast milk helps build their immune system and sets them up for a healthy life. Look at your wallet for motivation. Formula is expensive!!!! And you have the ability to make milk for free.
But remember, in the end, you are feeding your babies and love them just the same whether you breast feed, pump or use formula. It is no reflection of your awesome mommy-ness!
Short Luteal Phase?
I've just started temping because I believe that the reason I haven't had a BFP yet, after 20 months, is because I believe I may have a Luteal Phase Defect.
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Between 1 and 5 am is when we produce the most milk. You should at least wake up once during that time. Its gonna help you keep yoir supply much better as well. I still wake up once at night at almost 3 months pp, but only pump 5 times a day and I get an average of 65-70 oz a day
