Mouth ulcers
I get mouth ulcers due to stress and for the past week my throat has been really sore, thought I was getting sick. Had a look at it last night and I have an ulcer right at the back of my throat. It's a little bit bigger than a 5c piece, red and sore.
For me, frequent mouth ulcers and/or lots at once was a symptom of what the doctor said was glandular fever. It was horrible. I now think it may have actually been CMV as my blood tests show that I've had it and the symptoms are similar to glandular fever. Keep an eye on it, but if you think it is necessary it can't hurt to ask for a blood test.
That's so weird ms mum. I was just saying to hubby I think my iron is low. I keep seeing stars and so tired and vague. Like walking into a room and forgetting what I'm doing there. Perhaps there could be a correlation. Thanks! This will push me to get tested.
Sorry to hijack two blessings :)
Oh no! I had this when I was run down at uni. Use to get mouth ulcers all the time and once had one at the back of my throat that the stupid dr said was a cold sore. Told her I'd never had a cold sore in my life and to swab it. It was a mouth ulcer. It was so horribly painful. Turned out not long later I found out my iron levels were very low. Once I started iron supplements I've never had a mouth ulcer since. Only needed them for a couple of years. Now I cook with a cast iron pan which keeps my levels fine and also ds1's who had low iron.
Vitamin b and magnesium help to reduce and heal them.
You can get ulcer tablets but it's cheaper to get the vitamins which do the same.
I get them at least every fortnight due to stress and autoimmune issues.
Salt water gargle and avoid sweet sugary stuff as it makes them worse or "feeds" them.
Thanks girls. I'm going to get it checked out tomorrow because it hasn't been this bad before. But yes, super painful especially as it's in a place where food and water hit it. Even swallowing hurts ?
Thanks Katie, I will keep an eye on it but they always pop up with stress, I've just had a really stressful two months and things have settled down now so it's all catching up on me. Will keep that in mind though ?
