Zantac
My 4 week old lo has just started zantac for his reflux he has only had 4 doses but I have noticed he is eating a lot less per feed. He was having 120 mls every 3-4 hours but now he is only having 60-80mls every 3-4 hours. Has anyone else had similar happen with Zantac? And did the Zantac help at all?
We had big problems with my dd's total intake because of reflux - although not related to zantac as she never had that one. Dd was on losec. I know that this was our paeds concern with thickened feeds tho and he recommended against thickening feeds. You def need to see your dr again. I'd keep a diary over the next 24 period - exactly how much your lo has and the time so you can work out the total 24hr intake. Then you've got something concrete to take back to your dr. Def keep an eye on his weight gain too. Maybe you need to try a different med.
I was prescribed Zantac last week for my babe (26 days old) as he's lactose intolerant and dr thought he was a bit reflect as well.
He had one afternoon dose and he hated it he couldn't bring up his wind he was in a lot of discomfort. I gave him a second dose and same thing he was up all night and the next day screaming until he was throwing up anyway.
I stopped the dose and it took two days before he was content again. He didn't eat hardly anything during the few days he had it and before he was happy again.
