I was induced at 39 weeks and honestly had an amazing experience. They put the gel in at 5pm and I started getting period pain pretty quickly. At 8am they broke my waters and gave me the drip and by 12:30 bub's was in my arms. He turned posterior as well.

I'd like to say this has put my mind at ease but everyone has just described my worst nightmares ? oh well! What can you do hey?!

I'm glad you put this up as I just found out due to gestational diabetes I'll most likely have to be induced. As much as there are bad stories there are just as many bad stories for natural labour and I'd rather know what can happen than not

I really loved my induction

I had the tape inserted and was hooked up to monitors to make sure bubs was happy with what was happening and then after that went to bed- was told it might not do anything and I might not feel any different, I woke up having contractions and my water broke an hour after!

Things weren't progressing with my contractions so the tape was removed and I laboured naturally for a few hours, I stopped dilating so they gave me the drip but was on very low so that I would progress as if it were a normal labour and every hour slowly turned it up till I will fully dilated!

All though I'm a first time mum it felt like the most natrual and relaxed labour for me and I had not one complication- they were surprised as she was posterior and they thought they would need to use the vacuum but because everything progressed perfectly my doctor turned her :) 12.5 hour labour and 14 minutes of pushing!

With my 2nd I was induced at 37 weeks, my waters broke the night before but I had low fluid already so I went in for monitoring. labour was 1 hour 11 mins. Apparently each time it's quicker. Only had gas even though I asked for Epi

I had a perfect 8hr labour after being induced :) no complications. I didnt have any drugs but i did have sterile water injections in my back as I had back labour.

Felt like i couldve done it all over again half an hr after :)

Was out of hospital in 23 hours :D

I was induced at 41+1 and it wasnt all pleasantries and roses- but it wasnt a disaster as far as induction labours go.

I only had gas and a morphene injection in my leg. 8hr labour, 2hrs of 2nd stage labour. The Vaccuum ended up being used in the last 5mins cuz i was completely exhausted and i had 2nd degree tear but no c section or other horrible interventions. this was my first baby so i cant compare it to non-induced labour but we survived and we're all healthy so try not to focus on the negative stories :-)

2pm had gel, was already 3-4cm after an S&S the day before

Irregular contractions all night. 7am was told I was 4-5, had drip put in and waters broken. Laboured hard until around lunch time and asked for epidural when told I'd only dilated to a 6. Got to 7cm and stayed that way until, at 7pm, they told me my body was shutting down and I needed a c-sec. Bub delivered after 830pm.

I was 38 weeks exactly

I was induced at 8 days overdue and it was the best thing I did. Bubs movements had slowed down and even though his heart rate was all normal they decided to go ahead anyway. I was meant to be induced two days later so they just bought it forward. I had the tape put in at 3pm on the Tuesday and my waters broke that night at 10pm. Contractions started at about 4.30 the next morning. I had a long day labouring, and pushing him out took over two hours but it was because the cord was wrapped around his neck twice. It was scary afterwards to realise that if we'd waited the extra two days it most likely wouldn't have ended well :-( I had an epidural and it was fantastic, it helped me to relax and focus on what I needed to do. I'd say go into it with an open mind and just take each thing as it comes :-)

38 weeks- induced due to previous shoulder dystocia, after natural birth the first time.

Tried breaking waters, nothing.

Tried gel-nothing.

Inserted drip.. Within half hr- I was well and truly in active labor, was the most intense and fast labor out of all of mine.. I could hear the midwife saying she kept turning it up as I was going well... I really wasn't but couldn't talk to tell her to stop,So from start to finish my labor was 1.5 hrs... Was very quick.

I tried everything in my power to avoid being induced this time around and thank god I went naturally.

Not all inductions are bad though I know some people that have had no issues.

I do have advice though, if you decide to have an epidural don't to be too active, you will be hooked up to monitors anyway, in the throws of labour when my epi was wearing off I thought it was a good idea at the time to bounce on the ball even though the doc advised me not to, well the epi shifted and I went from minimal pain to transition contractions and total AGONY, the shock made me pass out. But the good thing about an induction is the environment is very controlled and they watch you and bub closely!

I was induced with my second had an epidural and 3 hours later no pain he came out. I'm no hero I admit it but why suffer through pain when they give you pain relief to just enjoy the time before you meet bub!

Yeah my experience isn't positive at all so I won't say it...

But my beautiful baby girl is so worth it!

Oh and it didn't end in c section so that's a positive.

I think it also can depend on the method of induction... Some people get gels over a few days even and some people (like me) get put on the pitocin drip and have it go from 0-1000 in minutes.

If anything, ask them to try to give your body as much time to adjust as possible... From what I know they can altar the IV amount/speed of the drugs going in and not let it progress faster than you can handle.

I was induced with dd1 and was booked to be induced with dd2 but she decided to meet us earlier. I didnt have any problems being induced. I needed to be at hospital at 7am where they broke waters and started drip about 9 contractions started about 1 I had an epidural at 5 and she was born at 907pm. No dramas everything was fine she was 8 pound 10 ounces. The only thing I hated was having to be hooked up to monitors across belly meaning everytime I wanted to move it would make them loose their place.

I didn't think so Ronnie ? I'm dreading it. My first two came on their own both early so I have a feeling this isn't going to go well, especially as I'll be 38+6 and not overdue.

I was induced with my first at 40+1 due to gestational diabetes! It hurt, it was fast (3 hours) and full on from the beginning and I didbt love it lol I went naturally with my second and it was nicer to begin with but all in all it hurt just as bad at the end stages and I didn't love it either! Lol how I see it is no matter which way it happens, it still hurts like crazy and although being induced can sometimes feel more intense, at the end you still get to meet your baby! Keeping A positive frame of mind will help you! Good luck, looking forward to hearing your news :-)

Mine was 9 days overdue. Got waters broken 7am the drip 8am. Contractions were full on not much breaks in between. Ended up with epi could still feel pushing. Hurt like hell but overall good. 5 hour labour and pushing and no complications.

Ok mine are good! I was induced with both kids due to pre-eclampsia, my DS was 5 days overdue, DD was 3 days early. First labour they broke my water then started the drip, I used gas only and my son was born 3 hours later with a small tear and episiotomy. My second labour was similar, just a slower start, but still just the drip and manual breaking of waters needed, and it was 5 hours, just gas and another minor tear. I was terrified of induction because of all the potential for intervention and that it takes ages, but not for me! I have a friend with similar experiences, 4-6 hour induced labours, no issues. Don't get me wrong, it hurt like hell, and it is a big shock to go from no contractions to full on ones very quickly with the drip, but at least it was over quickly haha

It started off fun and exciting! But then a bunch of complications and had a c section with a general anaesthetic then extra surgery on my uterus. Bubs was fine though in the end. I've heard plenty of much more positive stories though!

Oh ? I think I would prefer the positive ones but any experiences are still good.

Mine wasn't much fun either very long labour needing intervention (vacuum extraction) and stitches.

My mum preferred being induced though as it sped up her labour.

Mine was terrible as well ended in a c-section
