Helping my husband quit smoking
Ok, so maybe this isn't 'mommy' related but I have been really worried about my husband lately. He has had a pack a day habit for 12 years. I've noticed that he has been gradually coughing more and more and it sounds terrible when he coughs. I'm really worried for him and have decided to put my foot down about kicking the habit. Has anyone else been through this? What did you do to help them/you quit? Tia!
My husband smoke about that much for about the same amount of time. He decided to quit on his own so he could live longer for his kids & me. That may be a good way to approach it. He has been vaping & cigarette free for ~3yrs. The juice he uses is halo because it didnt hurt and make him cough like others. Also, he likes their tobacco flavors and looked into the company & they are very reputable. He also went with bigger battery & changes it every year. The start up is pricey but it still cost him less than what he spent on cigarette in a month.
I know a few people that smoked for 20+ years that decided they wanted to quit and they went to a chiropractor. Sounds strange but there are certain pressure points that control the desire to smoke. They did it 5 years ago and are still smoke free. The only complaint I've heard is they aren't sure what to do with their hands because the cigarettes caused a habit with a hand as well.
As a former smoker.. I can't agree more that he will most likely be inclined to hide it from you if you push him to quit. I also agree that until there is that ah ha moment that quitting isn't really something someone does.
I quit when I found out I was pregnant and I am six months in. I really miss smoking. A lot.
If I were in his position having a doctor tell me to quit (because of a cough etc) would be about the only way I would consider it.
I was a pack a day smoker for 16 years, and I quit 3 years ago.
And speaking as a former smoker, I believe that the only thing that "putting your foot down" will do, is make him hide his smoking from you.
Smokers won't quit just because someone tells them to. Every smoker knows all about the health risks, but until they have their own "Ah-ha" moment, it is highly unlikely a smoker will just quit.
I agree that it has the be their decision but my husband used to chew. I told him one day that enough was enough and how gross it was and the next day he was quitting. He used the him to help and his best friend also decided to quit smoking at the same time using the gum. I think the support of his friend really helped. T
I think it'll be hard to "put your foot down" with something like smoking. It's a very personal decision and it has to be that persons choice. My ex tried to threaten me into quitting and it didn't work. I ended up quitting when I got pregnant. Try telling him how much he means to you and you want him to be around as long as possible, talk about all the pros like saving money and feeling good, living longer. Hopefully he will agree and you can support him and be his cheerleader!
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. Religion Conspiracy/Theory
**This is not to bash peoples religion and beliefs but to talk about our own theories and ideas** I would like to discuss a certain topic that came to mind after talking to my SO. I know some of you ladies like a good conspiracy talk so i would like to have a good discussion and hear thoughts of others. So back story my SO friends got very offended when he mentioned not believing in god or religion and it got me thinking. Is religion a failing form of goverment cont...

My husband and I aren’t exactly strangers when it comes to relationship challenges 💞. We have been together for 14 years and married for eight, so we’ve definitely gone through some growing pains as we navigated a long-distance relationship in college and our first year living together as a married 👫 couple.
But nothing has challenged our relationship quite like our first year as 👪 parents .
Before you have your first child, you have these grand ideas of what it will be like. There’s more slee...

My husband recently got a vapor thing & uses the water vapor without nicotine. It helps him with the motions & feeling of smoking but now is starting to get to the point where he doesn't want cigarettes or chew. He's only done it for a few days too!
