SNS lowered milk supply

I had my baby nov 23 and have struggled with bf since I started. One week pp and she lost a pound so her pediatrician said we needed to supplement. I started using the lact-aid supplemental nursing system and have noticed a large drop in milk supply. I'm so frustrated. The latch is still a struggle, my nipples are raw and now my supply is low. Also when I have my milk come in it is painful. Is that normal? Anyone else go through these struggles and still manage to get things back on track?

Maybe use a nipple shield to help baby latch better and til your Nipples heal. Then you can see later how your latch is and what could be wrong.

Also, air drying can really help your nipples :)

You can increase your supply with mothers milk tea, drinking lots of water & eating oatmeal. Have baby on breast often :)

I did meet with a lactation consultant. She was the one who recommended the SNS. She came by again yesterday and said the latch was good. It also feels good.. No pain, it's just a little raw. I think the SNS is just too easy for her.

The SNS should have helped. Have you met with a lactation consultant? Look for an IBCLC, who will have medical training. It's possible it's just a bad latch but it could be a tongue tie which needs small surgery to correct.
