Child care -repeat illnesses

Hi girlies, my son is 21 months old and attends a child care centre 2days per week and the other 3days stays with my MIL. My son has been sick with various things every couple of weeks the past few months. Do you think it might be from him picking up things while at day care? I have the option of my MIL taking him full time. Do you think this would cut down on his infections?

He has been going to day care now for 12 months. It's just hard when you have work and study and need to have a day off every fortnight ? and also my poor baby would be feeling sick all the time. When he first started he was sick every couple of weeks and then we had a while where he was ok but like I said the past few months it has started again. I will definitely try the pro biotics. If it has worked for all of you, I will try anything to help him. Thanks for all your responses I really appreciate it

My son started child care at 5 months as I worked t the centre he was sick a lot but it takes around 12 months for them to build some sort of immunity to illnesses. And because they are run down they pick things up more easily

My son started care at 18m and was sick all the time. I put him on a pro biotic too and he is now 22m and hardly sick anymore. They just need time to build their immunity, the positive of them bring dick now us when they start school they should be pretty healthy and not pick up all the little bugs.

Exactly like kimberlina my 2 kids were sick for their entire 1st year. It was so hard that around the 12 month mark I was going to take them out and come up with another alternative because the stress was overwhelming!! I'm glad I didn't though because it was around that time that things started settling down and I noticed they weren't getting sick very frequently anymore. Now they are rarely sick which is good because I have a bub at home and my son starts prep next year too so hopefully his immune system is prepared and he won't have to miss important school time because of colds and flu. Pro biotics are worth a try but they didn't really do much for us unfortunately just had to ride it out.

My little one is also at daycare twice a week. She was constantly having days off due to being sick so my MIL was having her more then the 3 days all the time. We got kids inner health plus in powder form and she's been on that for a few moths now and she hasn't missed a day.

My kids were sick for their entire first year at child care! Your MIL looking after them instead of child care will def cut down on sickness. But eventually they'll be at kinder and school etc and have to go through this phase anyhow. It's annoying but they're building up their immunity

How long has he been in child care for? For the first 6 or so months my dd was sick 24/7. I got her onto a pro biotic & that'd helped immensely. She's. Not been sick in months now.
