help im going insane

Hi ladies, I really need some advice. My son is 9 months old and I have always breastfed on demand, this was probably my downfall! I am definitely paying for it now lol

my son (9 months) is doing the exact same, except he's formula fed! instead of every 3-4 hours, he's feeding every 2 hours. also waking up 2-3 times for a bottle at night.

don't give up on breastfeeding unless you truly want to. I know it's draining and would be hard but from speaking to other mums, it's a stage they go through at this age. the eating, whinging, wanting to be held etc.

9 months is a big time developmentally and both my boys did this but after a few weeks it settled down.

You've come this far I wouldn't switch to formula now as you'll have all the extra work and costs of buying/making bottles and formula etc and if it's comfort he will probably turn up his nose at it anyway because he won't be hungry as such..

Can you try distracting him in between feeds and wearing hard to access tops?

Also I wouldn't worry about him not settling with your dad it's very common for breastfeed babies to go to other people and be fine all day and then once they see you he will probably want a feed straight away. I went back to work 2 days a week and my son was still bf he was fine all day at daycare but wanted a feed when he got home and then eventually didn't want a feed until bedtime because he was so use to not having it all day

I'm not going to be much help, as I didn't fb for long, but it does sound like he is just comfort feeding...

Have you tried expressing? And then feeding him from bottles?

You prob need to get him onto either formula or expressed bm to get dad use to feeding him while you're at work.

I believe that they also go through a stage of becoming more attached as part of their development. Check out the wonder weeks app. As for the continuos feeding will he take water when offered instead? It depends on how long you are wanting the breast feed for. I was always stopping around 1. So at 9 months ds was only having bf's 3 times a day and then they were cut back over the 3/4 months. I demand fed however we were also in a pretty good routine where I could almost pick within the 1/2 hour of when he would want feeding. Other then that do you offer snacks for morning tea and lunch? Maybe your lo is still hungry after a feed and breakfast.
