Yesterday I told my grandmother about SO's close friend that was fatally shot the other day. I told her the guy was really nice and I couldn't believe what happened and she said "Well he couldn't have been that nice." I changed the subject with hopes that SO didn't hear her, because I knew that would hurt his feelings. I feel so bad for not speaking up to her and I can't believe she would say something so ignorant. Bad things happen to good people everyday. She says so many terrible things that I don't even want to talk to her, but I feel bad because no one else wants to either. Sorry just needed to get that off my chest!

In my expierence some older people lose their filter. Before my grandma passed, she did not have a filter. Her opinion was golden to her. I loved her so much, I just let her talk. Luckily it was just me and she didn't offend anyone when I was around.

Not having a filter is one thing but she's just mean. She is very negative and talks bad about everyone behind their backs. She's the only elderly person I know that says things like that.
