how much is enough?
In a long distance relationship, how much should the couple communicate? My SO lives 4 hours away and we have a child together. We've been getting along really well lately but when he goes back home I barely hear from him once a day.

It depends on the couple.
Both people need to have their communication and attention needs met.
If your needs aren't being met, talk to your partner.
If your partner isn't willing to meet your needs (after you've expressed your needs), the relationship probably won't work.

Depends on the couple and situation.
I'm in a LDR. My guy is across the country with a 2 hr time difference.
He has 2 jobs and attends school full time. I also attend school full time and work part time.
We text each other throughout the day. There are days where we don't even talk except say good morning or Gnite. That's usually bc were busy studying.
Lately we've only been able to skype once a week if we're lucky.
It's def hard. :/

I honestly doesn't know what he's doing. I would be okay with a good morning or good night but I hardly ever even get that. I don't hear from him unless I call or text him then he tells me he was going to call me or text me. It's strange because I always beat him to It.

I'm an hour away (freeway time) 3-4 freeways from my boyfriend, and I always drive and stay over on the weekends. During the week we hardly text, sometimes not at all, because we are both very busy. That makes our weekends more intense, and he tells me that just because he doesn't see me it doesn't mean he's not thinking about me.
Maybe you two should talk about this, and he might feel like that too. Just because he doesn't text you every day doesn't mean that he's not thinking about you guys, and working hard for you. :) communicate

Some men just aren't that good in 'textual' relationships. It completely depends on the people and the situation. I am in Australia and my man is in London. With an 8 hour time difference it can be ridiculously hard, but we've worked out what works for us (Skype every couple of days and daily texting).
If you are concerned - talk to him!

Thanks ladies. I hope we work out and can move closer together soon. I love his connection with our son when he visits and I miss him so bad

Depends on the couple, but I'm in a LDR and we call or Skype every night, text throughout the day whenever we want to talk to each other, and make an effort to see each other on the weekends. It can work, but you both have to be on the same page about communication and what you want.

Every couple is different, try maybe at least one phone call a day. My husband is in another country with a 5 hr time difference and we're still trying to get a flow. It takes time ?
