So aggravated!!
I'm 3 weeks pp and my blood pressure is still elevated! It stayed elevated for the first two weeks, then last week - it went down to a pretty normal range so I thought, "Great, maybe things are finally going back to normal!"
I had a perfectly wonderful pregnancy (for the most part) but birth and postpartum were a nightmare. I had high blood pressure for a full 6 weeks after birth (plus horrible water retention). If my daughter wasn't jaundiced my c-section recovery and various symptoms would have been the reason I was kept in the hospital. (Stayed a full 6 days).
I would keep a close eye on it and go to urgent care or ER if it continues to spike. A friend of mine (met on BB) had a stroke post partum. I would not mess around with high BP.
No, I'm not on any medication right now. After birth, my BP went down while in the hospital (probably because they only took it while I was laying down).
They just said to monitor it at home. I didn't call just because it was high because I wasn't really having any other symptoms. I have had some killer migraines that have lasted 1-2 days but it was always on the weekends, when I couldn't call.
When I was induced at 37 weeks due to growth restriction, my protein levels were just shy of a pre-eclampsia diagnosis. Had I carried longer I'd likely have developed it. After delivering, my bp went through the roof (was already high before delivery but it went nuts after). They gave it a little time to settle but put me on labetalol before I left the hospital. I did a 30 day course and was back to normal.
If I were you, I'd definitely go for the meds. HTN is so rough on your body. Ask about doing a temporary course of meds and then coming in for a check.
I definitely will if it happens again. I just had no way to get there last night aside from an ambulance, which if it hadn't gone back down like it did, I would have certainly called 911.
I was in L&D 5 times this pregnancy for high BP before they decided to induce. I've been having issues with it since I was 24 weeks pregnant - I'm just over it.
Hopefully things stay status quo today and the doctor can see me tomorrow.
