We started at 1 and work up to 24.

On Dec 1 - you start at 24 because they're 24 days until Christmas. On Christmas Eve, you end at 1, because there is one more day until Christmas.

I always viewed advent like a countdown. It's fun either way you do it, I was just wondering if I was the minority here. ?

We have done one every year of my life (except for a few dark years where we couldn't find them), and I've never heard of ending at 1!!!

And my mom now sends one to all of the grandkids, so we have ours to start. It's chocolates and bible verses.

I start at one. I never never ppl did it the other way ? plus if I started from the bigger number that would mess me up even more. As from starting from 1 I always seem to end up missing some days, then I'd have to do math, and I suck at math. Lol

1 through 25 is the one we always had. Open 1 to 25. I swear there was a 25 on ours but I could be wrong, which I usually am lol. It was just a countdown to xmas one not a religious one

So if you start at 1 and count up, then why isn't there a 25?

We did this as kids. We started at 1 because 24 is the biggest window on ours.

I just got DD one and the biggest window is 24 as well.

We always started at 24 then counted down, so 1 would be the final and latest door with the most candy.

My grandfather built us a wooden advent calender when I was a kid, and it starts with the first of December and goes up to the 24th, so that's what I do with my son. I put dollars, small cars, and kisses in his boxes. Along with fun activities to do.

For me the numbers are the dates, number 1 for Dec 1st and so on until the biggest one on number 24 for Christmas Eve. It was like that when I was young also, at least here!
