Birthing Ball
Ok - I'll be 34 weeks tomorrow and will likely be induced in 3 weeks from today due to pre-e (I'm being optimistic and hoping to avoid this and go into labor naturally, but my doctors keep trying to "prepare" me for a 12/9 delivery).
I've been sitting on an exercise ball in leau of my office chair since about 25 weeks, my mom used to be a midwife and is currently a doula and told me it will help to strengthen the pelvic floor as well as get baby into a better position but won't cause early labor, so there should be no problem with you using one now! I'm 35w now and am going on long walks and also drinking red raspberry leaf tea, which I've heard tones the uterus for an easier labor. Hopefully if you keep doing these things your body will go into labor naturally ☺️ GL!
@snarf - yay!! I'm so glad you're attempting a Vbac! It was the best experience ever!
I had to be induced with #3 due to pre-e when I was 37w 6d. It was very touch and go but I successfully delivered her vaginally.
This time, we are in the same scenario but being that I've been battling these high BP's for 2 months and have started to spill protein, it's not in the best interest of me and baby to go past 37 weeks. They aren't pushing for a c-section, just an induction. I won't get another c-section unless it's absolutely necessary. I'll have 4 kids to keep after and it's Christmas time! There's just no way I can be immobile for weeks. ?
I have faith in my body, I just want to try anything and everything to ensure success! I loved my vaginal birth and can't wait to do it again! ?
First of all, congrats!
Okay. I am also going for a vbac and have had the whole discussion with my OB about putting me on a rcs deadline. He tried to put me on the schedule and I told him that I wouldn't be showing up for a routine csection. I told him unless there is specific evidence that my child would die without a csection, I will not be showing up for one. So there's that. You CAN say no. They can not force you onto their schedule.
Another thing, I'm 36 weeks and have been using my ball religiously for about two weeks already trying to get this baby into position. My baby is still very high and my cervix is closed. If anything, I think the ball helps but it won't put you into labor, so I think it's totally safe. After all, some people run marathons while pregnant, I don't think sitting on a ball is dangerous.
Thanks, K! I just did an hour of prenatal yoga. I'm trying to get 4-5 workouts in a week. He did feel much lower after I finished.
We're in the home stretch, mama! So excited!
Ok, thanks!! That's great. I just didn't want to do anything that could have any adverse effects.
How much evening primrose oil should I use? Does anyone have a brand they like? Tablet or actual oil?
