If it's something different and I just don't like it, then I don't say anything. If it's something I normally would enjoy and and it was over/under cooked, old, or just plain nasty then yes I absolutely say something
I'm spending my hard earned money on a meal I expect it to taste good. If the food is nasty, I politely tell my server when she/he asks how the food is tasting. He/she will then offer something else most times or ask if I want to just cancel it out.
I wouldn't complain but I would tell the waiter that I didn't like it and then I would ask nicely if they would take it off the check. You only ate a bite of it so it's obvious you're not trying to scam anyone.
Did you take it home? If you did, buy some heavy whipping cream and pour a decent amout over the cake. It's so freaking good.
I wouldn't complain. But I hate to make a scene. It looks like they were more worried about presentation. It's gorgeous. Sorry it sucked. You will have to redeem with something else! Sucks when u are looking so forward to something!
How much of it did you eat? Seems like the waiter could have commented that you didn't eat much and ask if you didn't like it. Sometimes they are busy and don't notice or don't want to seem rude I guess. I have been asked that a few times because it usually looks like I haven't ate any of my food bc I don't eat a lot ?

I would've asked that the dessert be taken off & then just added that to the tip if the server was really nice.
And I was eating alone. ? No one else could taste it's awfulness. I'm traveling for work.
It was SO dry! It was hard to get the spoon through it and it just crumbled like a piece of stale cake. The waiter was so nice I didn't want to say anything, especially since I only drank water with my meal and most people were boozin' it up so he wasn't going to get as nice of a tip from me (solely because my bill was smaller, I did tip 20%).
The ice cream was butterscotch and it was $8.
What about it made it gross? Was the taste off? Did it smell bad? Was it cardboard dry?

When I was pregnant with my daughter chocolate was disgusting. The smell alone made me gag. It was like this my entire pregnancy. About 3-4 weeks pp I craved it. We had chocolate syrup in the icebox and I caught myself drinking. My SO(DH now) went and bought like 3 different xxl kind of chocolate bars, I ate like 2 the first day. It was so good, I couldn't imagine how someone could hate this delicious treat.
Did anyone else experiencing a change of taste while pregnant? When I was pregnant with my second I couldn't eat my usual buttered toast for breakfast for months. Every time I made it, it tasted like metal to me. I threw out our bread twice before I realized it was me not the bread. I wouldn't say anything unless your husband tried it too. What was wrong with it?
I don't consider it complaining. I think it's good to let chefs know that their food wasn't up to par.
Eg, my fiancé and I took our son out to lunch. I ordered a chorizo and bacon pasta with a tomato sauce and my fiancé ordered a BLT. His BLT literally had one piece of bacon on it and my pasta had 0 meat. It was just pasta and sauce.
I refuse to pay for food that isn't up to par.
Just don't be one of those people who eats the whole meal then tells the chef it was crap haha.

That looks like one of those slices of cake that sit in a window in front of a diner. Always look pretty and delicious. Always taste gross.
I always feel bad about complaining, definitely wouldn't do it if I just was trying something and didn't like it. Usually I ask for a box and take it home where someone else will eat it or I can throw it away.
