Essential Oils
I'm not jumping on the bandwagon yet but I have been so sick this pregnancy including terrible migraines and NOTHING helps! At this point, I'm looking into my options.
Plus, MLM typically equals higher prices, not higher quality. They all have to make their money up the chain - which is why they price so high. Not because they are the best oils out there by any means.
Yeah - doTERRA is the one I've done quite a bit of research on because my mom just became a whole seller and is pushing these oils on me.
I'm not a fan of any MLM honestly and I've heard some sketchy things about doTERRA and some of the other more expensive companies out there. However, my biggest issue with doTERRA is that they promote internal consumption which everything i've read says EO's should never be ingested unless prescribed by a medically licensed aromatherapist.
Doterra is the best company. They are pricey but all of their oils are good grade and are the most natural. Some EOs add chemicals or break the natural oil down so far that there is such a little benefit. Ylang ylang and peppermint are my go tos for migraines. Also ylang ylang or sandalwood in shampoo
Thank you guys! I hadn't read that anywhere so I really appreciate it!
Plant therapy is the one I've been researching. It's recommended my almost every non-biased website. Usingeossafely, marvymoms, the hippy homemaker, and so many more.
I love Plant Therapy! Wonderful prices, easy to use website, free shipping, and they have actual certified aromatherapists on staff if you have questions. They give safe advice on usage and have a HUGE selection of products including a kid safe line. I'll never use another company
Peppermint is a big no for all small children, it can cool their lungs and make them stop breathing. Instead of rubbing it on your body, put it in an inhaler (can be bought on many websites including PT) that way you can enjoy it but keep it away from baby
Thank you! That page is super helpful.
It says peppermint is safe to use during breastfeeding but it may affect your supply. Is this why you stated not to use it? Sorry, just trying to figure this all out.
It's kind of overwhelming!
Yes there are some that are unsafe to use during pregnancy, and some that should be diluted, and some that should be avoided if you're nursing. Some that should not be used around babies.
Peppermint is one that should be diluted, avoided if you're nursing.
There's tons of information online and in FB groups. Using Essential Oils Safely is a favorite FB group of mine.
Some oils that are good for just about everything are lavender, frankincense and peppermint.
I use a tea tree and lavender deodorant because it is anti fungal.
For headaches I diffuse lavender. I also recommend looking into a good chiropractor.
If the headaches seem hormone related look into clary calm by doterra. It helps regulate me and I love the way it smells.
