Prayers please
A friend's niece choked on a piece of popcorn two weeks ago and is in the ICU. She has little to no brain activity and the hospital is trying to take her off life support. The family had to get a judge to order a stay, to give her a little more time to heal in the hopes she'll wake up. I am no doctor, but this family has hope and faith to move mountains - please join us in praying for a miracle for this precious baby. She's only 2. ?
Said a prayer for this little one.
I had a friend( he passed recently) who had a very bad accident when he was younger. He was attacked with a motor bike. He was in a coma for a long time. 3 years in his family gave up hope and they had the life support removed and he woke up instead of passing as they thought.
I pray that they give this little one the time she needs to heal and I pray that she wakes up and lives the life she deserves.
Unfortunately, hospitals do have that right. If someone is declared brain dead, the hospital can't justify keeping them alive otherwise there would be rooms and rooms of people of ventilators. That being said, I would absolutely fight the hospital, courts etc. if my baby was in that situation. So sad for the family, I can't imagine. ?
@littleking - I thought the same thing too. I don't know the story in-depth but they wanted to perform some type of brain dead test on her and if she failed it, they'd have a medical reason to take her off life support. The family says that she responds to certain things and they didn't want the test performed, because they knew if the outcome was bad, the hospital could unplug her. They just want her to have some more time to heal as there was still a lot of swelling around her brain.
The story was in their local news. I guess most people really didn't know that hospitals had this authority. Right now they are trying to get her moved to a different hospital with a world-class neurologist.
Honestly, before this happened. I had no idea that hospitals could made that decision against the family's wishes. I mean, I understand that they are the professionals, the prognosis is grim, and they have other patients to treat - but it should be left up to the parents. Not a hospital. Not a court system.

My August baby decided she wanted to be a May baby like her big sister. Madison Noelle was born on Tuesday, May 24 at 3:50pm, weighing 2lbs, 13oz and 14". She was born at 27 weeks and has a long road ahead of her. Every day she has been getting stronger and amazing everyone. Please keep us in your prayers, my family and I have a long road ahead of us. Congratulations to everyone and I wish you all wonderful pregnancies and deliveries! ??❤️
