When I was little my dad used to take me butterfly hunting with a net. He also was very good at drawing and burning them into wood. He even had a tattoo of one on his neck.

After he passed, my sis and I always felt like butterflies were dad’s way of saying hello to us. When my sister died, a year later I raised a bunch of caterpillars into butterflies to release in their honor.

My husband, knowing all of this, has never tried making a craft and has never used a wood burner. For Mother’s Day he made me this wall plaque to hang. I wanted to share it with my fellow arts and crafts lovers. It’s so sweet and amazing. I think he did a great job!
