That is confusing. I read it as 3 total though.

3 total.

I read it as 0 because it never gives you a number for inside the theater. But I suck at this stuff, so don't pay attention to me. ?

.... I feel like I need to go back to school after reading this?

There is a first half to it. It says...
"For every 7 guests you have at your theatre, you must have at least 1 worker present. On Saturday night you have an average of 4,501 guests in your theatre. How many workers do you need to have on an average Saturday night?"
That answer is 643.
Ok - when we do the second part of the equation, we end up with a remainder. He says you can't have a remainder (plus, it doesn't really make sense to have one). Am I just being dumb here??? How does a 3rd grade math problem stump me?

You have three workers at both the ticket and concession stand, for a total of 3. You then divide the remaining number by the number of theaters. ?
Edit: I put 6 by accident

You would take 3 from the 643 then divide the 640 by 8 and you get 80

Thanks! I was cooking dinner and wasn't really focusing. Once I sat down, I realized I was reading it wrong. I thought it meant 8 theaters as in 8 separate movie theaters, therefore 8 tickets booths, 8 concession stands, etc.
I was doing 3*8=24. Then 643-24 = 619. Then 619 / 8!
Yeah, WAY overthinking it I guess! I got an A in calculus! LOL

Oh crap...I'm going to be screwed in about 7 years.

My brain hurts from reading this and the everyones posts on the matter....

Totally unrelated to the math part of the question.. but if you're going to have 4501 patrons at your movie theatre why would you only have 3 people running concessions and the ticket booth? ! And 80 workers per theatre?? This question is just ridiculous!

@abrich - that's why I thought they meant 8 different movie theaters! I mean, what movie theatre ever has over 600 workers at one time?? And 80 workers per theatre screening room would take up all the seats!
