Favorite childhood memories

My favorite is racing my dad on our horses through the hayfield. We always raced from the corral to the first gate (about 1/3 mile). I'm pretty sure he let me win every time. :)

Off topic but when we make brownies in our family, there are girl brownies and boy brownies.

What's the difference? The boy brownies have nuts. Hahahaha ha!

Another favorite memory was Christmas morning. My parents live in a split level so the living room is where the front door is, but all of the bedrooms are on the upper level. They would put a gate at the end of the hallway so we could peak at alllllll of the presents on Christmas morning but we couldn't go down to them until my parents opened the gate. We always had to wait for my mom to "put her lips on"! Hahaha!

The times with my dad. Every Friday he would make us a steak and mashed potato dinner and we would rent a movie from block buster and he would watch it with me no matter what. Every morning he would make me breakfast. Biscuits, hard boiled eggs, and he would attempt up brush my hair and do something with it. We would go to flagstaff together every year and he would take me to the park several times a week and actively play with me for hours while we were there. We would catch wood carpenter bees together and go to the bookstore every Saturday do he could type and he would buy me a book. He was and is the best dad I could ever ask for. He always made it his priority to make memories with me. He is now an even more awesome grandfather and talks to my dd twice a day on Skype since he's I'm Afghanistan.

@baby - I went to private school too and we had a dress code. We couldn't wear blue jeans, but we could wear red jeans, green jeans, purple jeans, etc. Hahahaha!! Oh the 90's!

Going to our cabin up north. I'm an only child but always had a good time with my uncle and grandparents swimming and fishing at Caldron Falls, picking blueberries with my Grama and eating them all before we left the woods, "driving" on my uncles or Grampas lap down the dirt road and everything we ever did up north! One time when my cousins came we were picking hazelnuts and a cat hopped in our truck. We took her home and named her hazelnut! ?my uncle loved that cat!! She was a really good girl.

Going to hotels on the weekend with my aunt and uncle to get away from "life". My aunt and I "crashed" a wedding once while at a hotel. Lol.

Pretty much anything and everything I ever did with my uncle! He was like a dad to me and we had a great relationship.

I know you wanted positive things, but my favorite memory has a sad ending. My favorite childhood memory is from Christmas Eve when I was 15. My older brother was so excited he couldn't sleep. He decided that I shouldn't be able to sleep either. So, being his best friend, he kept me up the whole night talking about the craziest things until qe both passed out when the sun came up. My mom was surprised when we didn't want to get up to open our presents. That was the last Christmas we had him with us, he was killed the following November. The best Christmas and memory I've ever had until I had my children.

That's beautiful, pp! I'm so sorry for your loss but am so glad you had that experience with him and now that great memory. ❤️
