@leanna - I like the white part best and usually cut then down to the roots but since I wanted to grow them, I left it longer.

KPatrick - the blog I read said she does it all season long. I will probably end up getting a few more bunches and growing more though because we eat these A LOT!

I do the same as Leanne but when I buy these the white part are big ball looking onions

Works with lettuce and celery too! Change the water often!!

But the onion part is the white end. Am I the only one that cuts the white end and throws the green end away?

Yes! I was a huge skeptic but thought "What the heck, I'll try it!". Make sure you change the water every other day, it starts to smell like a really potent onion if left too long.
