My child will not poop!
This is serious, advice appreciated beautiful ladies!!
I took her back in today because after giving her the suppository, pear juice with Karo Syrup, switching her milk to almond... NOTHING has been working!
They made me give her another enema, they want me to up her mirilax to a whole capful everyday, they want blood work taken and they want her to go see a gastrointologist (sp??).
I didn't read all the posts so sorry if this is a repeat.
What about watered down prune juice? When my Los were little little dr recommended 2oz of juice and 2oz of water & it did the trick. Still does and they're almost 3 and almost 1. Obviously it's a little more juice and a little less water. Sometimes even just juice.
Aww her poor bum! I used to watch a lil girl that was that constipated all the time! When she finally pooped she would struggle so hard her face would turn so red and tears would drop from her eyes and would cause her butt to bleed! :/ I would tell her mom and she just wrote it off which made me mad! Sometimes my dd gets backed up I just make sure I don't give her any bananas, applesauce or any yogurt and cheese! And I make her a fruit smoothie with strawberries, blueberries, prune juice and lots of spinach! (Can't taste the spinach) and it helps her poop everytime!! Good luck
The thermometer didn't work. We just gave her the glycerine suppository which is like a mini enema and she pooped a little tiny bit but since then has been trying more and more but not accomplishing anything. Just crying and her whole body locks up like she is in so much pain... She even stands on her tippy toes and leans against the wall or couch to brace herself. :-(
So last night we went to a Japanese steak house and I was hoping it would clean her out because it always does to me. It didn't. Today I put a thermometer in her butt and you could see the poop coming out but she just couldn't push it out. I just sent my hubby with a grocery list of stuff to get, including everything you guys said on here! I really hope this stuff works, I'm starting to get worried. She just cries and cries, she can barely walk because of the discomfort. A part of me wants to take her to the ER and I will if none of this works.
I gave my DD some grapefruit and it blew through her like a hurricane 0.o put a little sugar on it and she at about a cup. She was relieved and felt better, she pooped 3 times in 4 hours and then the grapefruit was out of her system. I followed up with baby yogurt to get her back on track and she was doing a lot better.
My son wouldn't poop for 3 days once when he was only a few months old. I was panicked and called my mom.. She came right over, opened his diaper, held his legs up, and gently stuck a thermometer up his butt (with Vaseline on it). Instantly the poopoos came right out and he was relieved. I never had to do it myself. My mom only did it the one time... I don't know much about that method but it did work...?
my d has this problem too.foods begining with p are helpful, pumpkin, pears, peas, parsnip, prunes.foods to avoid are bananas and cheese.i try to give her a kiwifruit everyday and that helps too.im not keen on giving her laxatives all the time because your body can become dependant on them and cause more problems in the future.but every now and then is ok.
She only drinks water and lactose-free milk. Regular milk was giving her bad diarrhea so we switched to the lactose-free around the time these issues started. Maybe I should switch her to almond milk and see if that helps.
I only tried the regular one because the doctor said not to use the mineral oil one. The enema worked quick, she pooped within 2 minutes of giving it to her, but I don't want to have to give her another one if I don't have to.
No x-ray. I took her to the doctors office. I called to make the appointment with the specialist and they are booked til April!! I am hoping to find another one.
