For mamas who breastfed more than once

Is breastfeeding easier once you’ve already done it? I was able to breastfeed my second child for the whole first year. It was extremely painful in the beginning and super hard for me to get her to latch . Now, I’m just wondering if it’ll still be hard this time around . Before, my nipples were kind of flat but I’m sure my daughter has already “shaped” mine out lol I was just want to know other mamas experiences on how it was breastfeeding another baby. (BTW, my daughter is about to be 3 years old so it’s been almost 2 years since I last breastfed )

Every experience is different with every kid. My first latched right away but didn't latch well & I ended up with cracked nipples, clogged ducts, mastitis, & a whole lot of frustration those first few weeks but she just sucked away like she was out for a trophy & we got through it for 18 months. My 2nd was a premie so latching was just not happening for the longest. I had to use nipple shields with her & pumped alot plus supplemented with formula when I just felt like I couldn't do it anymore, until I got my 2nd wind, or 3rd, or however many times I about gave up. We managed 13 months & I used stored frozen breast milk in her cereal for months afterwards so still a win. My 3rd they took from me immediately after deliver & gave him formula AGAINST my wishes saying they needed to test his sucking reflexes - my response was that's wtf I'm for you stupid...well u get the point ?. It wasn't pretty & my husband walked out of the nursery fuming lol. It took me 2 weeks after that to get him to latch properly but once he did he nursed like a pro for 23 months.

I had a lot of problems breastfeeding my second. It was much much harder. Totally different kid who had a tighter latch. It was painful, frustrating and lead to many visits with the LC. But we got through it and had a very successful run. I just remember being so surprised at how much harder it was than my first. I’m hoping the third is easy!

For me, my second baby breastfed like a champ! My first baby I had to use a nipple shield, and was in a lot of pain for awhile, I had similar issues to you. Might sound odd but i think by my second baby, because of breastfeeding my first my nipples were a bit more stretchable?! ? lol. (Was a night and day difference for me :) )

I didn’t have any pain the second go around at all. You just have so much more confidence with how to feed and latch, what feels normal and what doesn’t. My nipples were super flat with my first and I used nipple shields for a while because of it. With my second I didn’t need any of that. It is still hard as hell and exhausting in the beginning but knowing that it is all normal makes such a difference. My milk also came in faster with my second by like 2 days too.
