Breastfeeding to formula

Breastfeeding to formula

What formula would you ladies recommend ? I'm thinking the Similac supplementing formula but not sure. My daughter had the Similac Advance as a newborn in the hospital but that was it. Just curious as to what to do....

If you guys are in the US call the formula companies! I did and got six different sample cans to try out! 4 worked 2 didn't- so we buy what's on sale!

I haven't switched to formula. I find myself going to the formula aisle at the store all the time and I'm so tempted to buy it but I'll just tough it out 4 more months then give her cows milk when she's 1.

Grly489 did you decide on a formula? I still don't know which formula to go with? are you switching completely or still going to breast feed too?

I agree with pp my son can only be nursed in a quiet dark room otherwise he's so distracted and will keep pulling off. He's also nursing less some days but think that's just normal as they eat more and more solids. I still offer a lot but sometimes be wants nothing to do with it. They're feeding will change day to day week to week so if it's just that your worried they don't feel full just give it a bit of time and it will likely level out.

Your milk will change consistency to a thicker n more vitamin packed milk to meet her need.

She doesn't even need solids until she's one. If she does seem hungry it's because usually babies start to get really distracted at around 9 months. I read that u should take them to a quiet room to nurse so they get their fill n not keep at the stop n go stop n go pace, which may give the impression that baby doesn't get full.

"Babies get all the nutrition they need from their milk. He said babies don't even need any baby food until they are a year old. So don't worry about it. If your baby was losing weight or something than you may want to worry about it. Babies are fine on just mommys milk though until they are one. Goodluck"- also got this comment from someone's post.

Don't switch to formula if your just worried about that. Try the eating at a quiet room or less distraction thing first. Breastmilk is all ur baby needs n it's the best thing for her. If u have other reasons then that's understandable but I'm just encouraging u to keep at it :) also ur baby loses the comfort of nursing and bonding with u, so at times it's just for that. N she might not even like formula.. N then you'd have to clean bottles n pray that she doesn't get a tummy ache from the formula. I think your doing awesome n really just want u to keep at it. I wont judge u or anyone who decides to formula feed but it seems ur just a little worried n want to make sure I encourage u n put some of that stress at ease so u can keep at it confidently! :)

Also doing both can decrease ur milk supply so I wouldn't recommend it as a filler. She's also prob going through another growth spurt or a developmental stage n wants to nurse more often. Hang in there!

Babies also start to level out n not gain as much once they start moving around because of the exercise. Don't worry!

I'm so tempted on buying her formula. I don't know how she'll handle it tho. I just feel like she doesn't get full with breastmilk anymore

When I stopped breastfeeding we put Ezra on Similac Advanced because it's what we used for my older son. We've never had any problems with it.

I tried the supplementing ones and my son hated it.. Only one he actually took after breastfeeding was the enfamil

Yea I just don't want to give her something that will upset her tummy. I really don't know the difference between the supplement one and the regular one. Is it thinner or something?

Following. I'm finally running low on my freezer stash and no longer keeping up with how many ounces Emmerson eats while I'm at work. I'm going to have to start supplementing in the next month but have no idea which formula to choose.

I use to supplement with Gerber supplement for breastfeeding but my baby kept spitting it up so now he uses Gerber soothe if he has no breast milk. Dr said it really didn't matter what milk we used
