Paternity leave
How long are your husbands or SO getting off for paternity leave? My husband is only getting 1 week off. Then he leaves again. He works in the oilfields so he's always gone. I'm so upset it can't be longer. I'm more than likely having another c-section so it's going to be hard recovering plus handling a newborn and two year old. Makes me sad ?

My husband gets 3-4 12 hour days off in a row paid. That's its! N he works shift work so he'll be away nights n days. Totally sucks but I have tons of family all within 5 min of my house.

my husband will probably only be taking a week off then heading back up to work for almost 3 weeks, but planning for him to be home for the birth is going to be hard

My fiancé only has one week but my mom is taking off two weeks to come stay with me and my best friend said that she would take a week off if I needed her to as well. And honestly my fiancé will probably be helpful with the baby but he is more of a mess maker than a cleaner so I don't know how helpful he will be on the housework end lol. And he is a heavy sleeper so I know that through the night it will be all me.

Hoping for 3-4 weeks. Have to check on how much PTO time he has saved up.

My SO runs his own business and can't take any days off. But I'm okay with that. He didn't take any days off with our daughter either. He is clueless when it comes to diapering and I'm planing to brestfeed. Won't be much for him to do since I love doing it all myself anyway.

My SO only gets a week but he has be saving vacation days since we found out we were having a baby. So he will be as able to add days to the week

My husband is taking two weeks vacation even though he could take more. I'm looking at 3 months leave and 2 weeks vacation prior to my due date.

My husband coaches college football... No such thing as time off. He'll probably get a couple days is all. There's a reason they call us coaches widows ?. He only got 1.5 days off over Christmas.

In CA he can get paid family leave for 6 weeks

Check with your state. If your husband has been at his job for more than 1 year, he maybe entitled to state FLI (Family Leave Insurance) which gets taken with FMLA ( Family Medical Leave Act -federal program) - so his job is safe.
I live in NJ and through your paycheck everyone pays into FLI as part of your state employment taxes. When you have or adopt a child mothers and fathers are entitled to 6 weeks leave taken at any time during the first year. When on FLI you receive 60% pay. In addition you also take FMLA at the same time to secure your job. If more than 40 people work for that company his job will be safe until FMLA runs out he can take up to 6 months but it's unpaid.
Many people don't know this benefit exists and I don't know if your state offers something similar but it doesn't hurt to check. And it would also be in addition to whatever your company offers.

My hubby is getting one week off paid paternity and then will take another week of vacation....

Not really sure my hubby has his own business so it's hard for him to take time off sometimes when big jobs come in. He can have a day off sometimes for ultrasound he will have a day off Tuesday but my first 2 ultrasounds he worked then came to the scan then went back to work. I'm hoping he will have a week off. It will be school holidays for my daughter for 2 weeks but I don't know how it will go getting her to school with a baby. At least hubby will be home at 4.30 pm or 5 pm to help.

My husband doesn't get paternity leave so to speak but he is saving 2 of his vacation wks to stay home. He has more but we said we will see how we are all doing with 2.

Me to, my husband will prob only have a week and I'm having a c-section which will be hard with a newborn and 2 year old also.
deleted-user·
My husband gets 11 days

SO can get up to 3 months, but we are thinking between 2-4 weeks.. He will only be getting a % of his normal pay so we don't want him to be gone for too long. Also I'm leaning more towards 2 weeks because I know the longer he is off, the harder it will be for him to go back.

my husband gets 4wks paid thru his job, thank goodness! it's our first, so I know we'll enjoy the bonding time as a new little family!

My husband can take up to 12 weeks, with his sick time and pro he'll take 8 weeks off with the baby and I. Super grateful for the amount of time he gets off!

My husband gets 6 weeks of FMLA in California. He will take 1 week for birth and then 5 weeks 2 months later.

My husband will get 10 days paid (military) although he might take more of his annual leave. My mother in law, mother, and sister will all be here as well and he works 4 mins away. I'd rather him save his leave for emergencies.

My husband is taking two weeks vacation. Dads can use FMLA for up to 12 weeks but it's unpaid leave.

My husband gets 10 days. I'm going to ask him to save his extended leave after he gets home from deployment for when she's born so he can help w getting our two sons to school and back. I'm hoping he can take 2 full weeks off since I have c-sections and can't drive.
deleted-user·
4roses he can only take 6 months because of the way it's split here into the weeks.. We have the 16 weeks maternity leave then it switches to paternity leave after that.. Which is like 24 weeks or something like that.. My hubby looked into it already.. We're in Ont..

Mine gets 2 weeks and is planning on taking his holidays as well in April. I really hope babies timing is good lol
deleted-user·
My husband will be home 2 weeks (paid) and then the 3rd week he will be working from home two days, and the 4th week he'll probably do the same. We got lucky with his job!

My husband is taking 6 weeks of leave. Two when the baby is born, two when she is six months, and two when she turns a year. We did the same thing with our last daughter and it worked great. I wish he could take all six weeks at one time but the way his position he just can't without falling too far behind.
deleted-user·
My husbands work give equal opportunity. He can take a full six weeks with me. He is going to take it in spirts though three weeks in the beginning when she's first born and then three weeks in august when I go back to work and before she goes to daycare.

Mine is getting a one month paid leave and I live in Ontario

My husband and I work for the same place and we just found out we have to split our FMLA / CFRA (in CA). We both have a lot of sick time / vacation and comp hours..he'll take at least one month of with me and then take more time when I return to work.

One week. He doesn't get a "paternity leave" though. He's using vacation time.
deleted-user·
With the Army my husband automatically gets 10 days and he has saved up leave so he is going to take another 10 days on top of that.
deleted-user·
My husband is a full time nursing Student and he's only allowed to miss 2 days of school or he gets kicked out of the program. So he will be there for the birth and then back to school the next day
deleted-user·
My So was going to do the 1 year of leave (Canada) but I'm not sure how it works just yet so we will see. If not then he will only have the labor and delivery off of work, basically till I get out of the hospital.
deleted-user·
My hubby gets one week paid vacation so he uses it when i go into labor. I wish he could stay home longer cause after i had my son it was soo wonderful having him home :/
deleted-user·
My hubby has payed vacation time , he's taking 2 weeks off , he could take 3 but we left the other week open for the holidays and anything else that may come up , he can choose what days he wants off and spread them out
deleted-user·
My boyfriend only has 2 days, he'll be there the day she's born, go to work the next day then be home our first day home.
I already know he's not gonna want to leave he'll end up using his sick day for the day in between lol.
deleted-user·
My husband only takes 3 days. I completely understand because I know he'll be a huge help when he's home like he was with my daughter.
deleted-user·
My husband will only have two or three days off I'm guessing but I will have our two other kids that can help. They will be 8 & 9 then. We can't really afford for him to take much time off but I would love a week straight.
My dad works on a fraking (sp?) rig and is gone for 3-4 weeks at a time so I understand how demanding that type of job can be.
deleted-user·
My husband got two weeks. He already took it since he shipped out in November and won't be back till july.
deleted-user·
My husband has 2 weeks of vacation saved up and will ask to work from home an additional week. He doesn't really want to take any unpaid leave since I'm a sahm and I don't blame him. I'm actually surprised he wants to be home so long and I can't wait!
