Forcing to go to baby shower
DHs cousins baby shower is this weekend and DH has to work. It's an hour and a half away and I would have to bring both kids with me. We told his parents we really couldn't afford to go but I would still get her a gift and send it along with them. 4 times his mom has said something about me going to the baby shower and she won't give up. She said she would help with the kids but she has done this before and never actually helped. Idk why she won't get the hint.

His parents? We live 2 seconds away from them and they see the kids everyday. This is distant family that doesn't talk to my husband really.

The last time she said something she called my husband! She already knows he has to work, I don't get why she keeps bringing it up though. I'm at the point of not answering cause she really doesn't get the hint

Just don't go, make sure the cousin knows you guys can't make it and leave it at that. I just had my shower and didn't mind that some people couldn't make it, especially the ones with kids. It's no big deal, don't let mil make it into one for you.
