I tip at least 20%. My last tattoo was a 3hr session, $100 an hour, $300 total, with a $60 tip.

Me and my SO got about $1000 worth of tattoos one day. There was 2 different tattoo artists. I think he tipped the one $20 and the other $40.

ETA: I was not aware you should tip tattoo artists, it is a nice thing to do though. Tattooing someone is hard work.

Depending on the size & cost of the tattoo, my tip varies! Never less than $20...I have 8 tattoos & I have always tipped between $20-100..

The first time I got a tattoo I didn't know you were supposed to tip and I still feel bad about it even though it was like 6 years ago. D: At least it was only a $60 tattoo.

I have a ton of tattoos and all of my stuff is drawn up by the artist using the ideas I have (other than my kids foot prints) so they took a lot of work on the artists part I generally tip 50% of the price of the tattoo

Dh is a tattoo artist, a lot of people don't tip at all. They don't realize you are suppose too I guess. Those who do tip, usually between 20-50 for anything less than $400... Occasionally he gets a really good tip. Usually the people who get big pieces, do it in multiple sessions, do they just pay for each session and not the whole piece at once

$10 an hour is not adequate. My tattoo took 45 minutes and I tipped around $25-30, can't remember exactly

I just tipped $20 on a $60 one. I went to set up an appt, and he had an opening within the next hour which NEVER happens with him

Depending on a lot of factors, I think most of the time tattoo artists definitely deserve more than servers (and I'm a server haha!). It takes a lot of skill, practice, time, and a bunch of other amazing qualities to become an artist. While I'm good at what I do serving, it's not an art, and my experience with my customers doesn't last a life time.

I've always tipped about 20% as long as I'm happy with the end result, which is just about everytime. Or if it's a multi session tattoo it just depends. A partial tip then the rest of the tip when finished

My husband does tattoos

But usually it depends on size and on detail if its big and with detail the people he does it on usually goes about 20-50 on a tip if its any bigger sometimes they give 100 like I said just depends on size detail n time

I did not know tipping was customary with tattoos. I don't have any but if I ever think of one that I want forever I will get it. That's good to know, though.

Taryn I'm actually getting my tattoo now! He is doing an amazing job. I've gotten a tattoo done by him before so I'm thinking about $60 dollars. The tattoo is costing me $220. And it won't be done either. I'm getting a whole back piece but we can only get one flower done today.

Last tattoo was 150...so I tipped $30. Tattoo before that was $225 so I tipped $50. So around 20%. They don't see all of the cash you give them.. They have to pay for there chair and supplies used. So I always try to give a decent tip to compensate for that. Only time I did not tip was when I was 18 and didn't even think to tip. First shop tattoo and was just naive to tipping. I thought they got to keep all the money given. It wasn't till my last tattoo artist broke it down for me and what little he's really left with. Now when I get a tattoo I make sure to bring enough to leave a decent tip. I've given my main guy $100 because he's that good. That was only on a $300.

I only have 1 and got it over 10 years ago... But I would think at least 25%, probably more if I really loved it. In my opinion being a tattoo artist requires more skill than a server. Not to mention they usually spend hours on it.

Depends the size of the tattoo and detail and how I'm treated during it. Usually 20-60. I tipped $100 for my side piece but its my entire torso and he actually took the entire day to do it, stopping only when I asked.

Edit: Also bought him lunch and dinner during breaks!

I go to the same artist for all my tattoos. He gives me a great price (I've paid $30 for a tattoo when his minimum shop fee is $50) so I tip quite well. In general, though, I would do at least $20.
