Electric breast pumps

I am looking at breast pumps now to get an idea of how much I should be saving up for one since my insurance won't cover it. I have no idea what to look at or to get. All I know is I want a double electric breast pump. Anyone have any suggestions on brands and models?

I used (& will use) Bailey's Nuture III double electric breast pump. I loved it. I also read on their site that it is the only FDA approved pumps that can be passed on to others. I haven't researched to see if that's true but it's what it said.

Edit: I didn't click on the link but it also said something about helping low income families to get a breast pump (or something like that. Sorry I'm tired)

Edit #2:

I had to buy extra filters (like $6) because I dropped a bottle & it shot milk into the filter. I think a basic pack of all the extras was around $36

@third I contacted my insurance company. They do not cover breast pumps unfortunately.

I have a yucky feeling about using a used breast pump that isn't hospital grade. My hospital also doesn't rent them out either ?

Are you in the U.S.? Most medical cover a breast pump now. Ask you insurance company first

I would check craigslist or eBay. A lot of people are getting pumps from there insurance but have no intention to use them and they are selling them. Brand new. Very cheap.

Do not buy a used breastpump unless it is a closed system and designed for more than one user. Only hospital grade medela pumps are closed systems. It's not hygienic.

Ameda is an affordable option and is a closed system. I got mine for about $140 three years back and it's on its second run with my dd now.

I rented a hospital grade pump from the hospital I delivered in. It was a Medela symphony. I Also purchased a hands-free pump to use some but I never got as much milk out as I did using the hospital grade pump. Just something you may want to check into if you plan on pumping several times a day while working.

Research the Hygeia enjoye. It's the one I went with. I did a lot of research on it after it came highly recommended to me by multiple mothers and a lactation consultant.

I have an old Medela at the time it was the high end model the modern version of mine costs around 265ish. I recommend and this goes for what ever you end up buying to buy extra of everything that way when you're cleaning/ disinfecting the parts you don't have to miss a pumping and you'll have pieces in the future when you're model becomes out dated. I couldn't find hoses for mine and I only had one it took forever to pump then waiting for it to come in the mail was annoying!
