Has anyone ever made homemade laundry detergent ? If so is it cost effective and can it be used for babies too?

My ex - roommate did. Saved her a lot of money. She would make huge buckets at a time, too. I personally did not like it, I didn't feel it got my clothes very clean. I'm also not 100% sure did it correctly though. I've seen others & it didn't look the same.

I'm all about saving money and that's why I wanted to try it but if it's not cleaning clothes good then I don't want to do it. DF is a truck driver and his clothes get nasty.

We do. I actually posted the recipe previously. We make one batch and it can easily last up to 6 months. The supplies cost maybe $10 the first time and then the next batch is only about $1.

I do. I love how clean it makes my laundry smell and it cleans really well. Dd has had several blow outs and you can't even tell even on the sleeper dh left in the diaper bag for two weeks.

Can you bump your recipe? I always worried my clothes wouldn't smell good with it. But i want to try it.

I make my own and it gets stains out better than tide or gain did and because you can customize your ingredients, you can make it smell the way you want to. I put lavender in mine and it smells great. Try a couple recipes on Google and see what works best for you and your family.

I use soap nuts (Natur-Oli on Amazon). I plan on using them for baby too. A 4 pound bag was $40 and lasted my family of 5 for 2 years. ? I did start with a small bag (cheaper) to see if I liked it first. I love it, it's cheap, completely natural, economical and works great. I used to get rashes from laundry soap but not anymore! I tried making soap once and hated it.

I have! I love it! Just haven't had the energy or time to do it! My husband wasn't thrilled, but that was only because it had no scent to it and he likes his clothes to smell nice. Just add some essential oils and that takes are of that tho LOL

I stole jwest laundry detergent recipe and it's amazing, also look at making your own dishwasher detergent and cleaners.

Use soap nuts too! I also add 1/4 vinegar to the wash. Clean, fresh, no perfume or dyes. Love it!
