I started introducing forks and spoon at about 10 months. By about 13 months he was using them. He could self feed with his fingers at about 9 months.

We did blw, and then adding spoons in a little before a year I think.

Whenever they were interested. All of mine were under two but it was like a monkey see monkey do.

She's 18 months and eats with a fork and spoon efficiently with little mess. She started around 10 months

I will start guiding her with the fork. From what I noticed when she was using a spoon and than a fork at dinner it was easier with a fork for her.

My daughter is 15 months and doing great with a fork and spoon. We introduced them a couple of months ago when she showed an interest. I started her off by sitting behind her and helping her manouver the utensils and now she is doing great on her own.

My son used his hands for quite a while. Fork was way easier for him to grasp than the spoon. Every time he used a spoon he'd flip it before it got to his mouth, and ended up all over him lol. I don't remember how old he was exactly.

From 6months I gave him own spoon, 12 months he had fork and stopped needing me!

I work with infants up to 18 months. Most of them know how to use their spoon by the time they transition (18 months). Some are still messy, but they try so hard! We always give them a spoon to feed themselves, and only help when they ask or need us too, so that encourages them. All know how to use a cup (no sippy) by 18 months. Visitors are surprised when they see this, but we don't force them, we just encourage them.

I'm there with peanut butter although DD is 17 months and doesn't use the utensil much still. It's much faster to just use her hands lol.

We do blw and give utensils right off the bat (around 6mo) they usually start to figure it out after a few months.

I started giving pre-loaded spoons and forks around 9 months. Around 12 months I just started giving her silverware. She's almost 18 months and will usually start the meal using her utensils and then about 3/4 of the way through switch to her hands.
