Just great. Someone broke my window while I was at the park with my kids and 911 won't do anything about it. It's freezing out and I don't want to have to drive 45 minutes home with the kids. Hopefully something will give.

Oh no, that sucks. I'm sorry ?
Did they steal anything?
deleted-user·
Was anything exposed? That blows.

Wow. a****** s.

I'm sorry how horrible! How cold is it? Is there a store nearby that you can buy supplies to tape it closed?
deleted-user·
I'm sorry :( same happened to me a few days ago. Cops just made a report and nothing else
deleted-user·
Damn!! Im so sorry. Some people are pathetic.

I'm so sorry mama! See if you can put a bag and have the heater turned on blast! Someone broke my window on a Saturday night so I had to drive it in the cold to get it fixed the next day. I can't imagine having to do that with kids ? I hate people who do things like this ? windows are expensive
Alyson Miller·
It's about 35 degrees ?
They stole my wallet that was in my glove box, no cash in it but it had my license and social security card ?
I cannot believe this.
Alyson Miller·
No one stops to think that someone might have kids and its f*** ing freezing ?
deleted-user·
Wow that's horrible. What low life's ?
deleted-user·
At a park??? What pieces of sh*ts. I'm sorry OP. ?

Amelia, non-emergency finally came out and looked at the passenger side for fingerprints. And filed a report....
Planet, my fiancé's mom came and got me and the kids and my fiancé is driving my car home. We're on our way home now and the kids are sleeping finally. AAA wouldn't come out because they said my car was operable ?

The police could:
File a police report
Bring her home
Or at least bring her to a store to cover the window for her kids.
They seriously couldn't help you at all? So ridiculous!
deleted-user·
Why can't op drive her car home? Her car is perfectly drive able. No reason the police should be her taxi. They could call her a taxi if she doesn't want to drive. If she can play at the park in this weather, she can drive home in it too. But a broken window is hardly a reason to keep an officer tied up on this!
And as a wife of a police officer, I will you this. YOU DO NOT want your kids in the back of a cop car. Do you have any idea how filthy the back of a cop car is? I would have driven home in my car before putting my kids in the backseat of a cop car. People spit, poop, pee, vomit, bleed and God knows what else back there! Cop cars really don't get cleaned out properly, my husband has to drive his car through the car wash if he wants it cleaned. Only the outside gets cleaned.

Jennifer, please don't start.
I'm already pissed off. Thanks.

I think Amelia's point was 911 wasn't the appropriate call. That's for emergencies. The normal non-emergent police line is what was needed. Calling 911 for that is like going to the ER for a cold you've had for a week or two that's only getting worse. Ya, someone should help, but not emergency services.
Glad you got home safe and warm Op!

I was addressing the comment asking why the cops couldn't be a taxi service. I wasn't addressing you specifically.
deleted-user·
I'm sorry, that's terrible. It upset me so much when I see stuff like this. And it's understandable not wanting to drive your kids home in freezing weather with windows open. Hoping they can get some fingerprints off the door ❤️❤️

How the f*** is it safe to drive home with kids in the car? I mean you do what you have to do but it's not safe. Also, driving in the cold with the window broken and running around are two different things. Its one thing if its just an adult but her kids involved. Cops are there to serve and protect. So yes, I do think a ride would be helpful. Its not like she's asking for a ride to get groceries. Isn't it illegal to drive with a cracked/broken window as well? I believe that one varies by state. Either way, yes I think the cop could have done a little more to help.
Op, I'm sorry this happened to you. I hope they find out who did it!
Alyson Miller·
Omg ?
We got to the park around 4:30, still sunny out. We were there for about an hour. By the time we got back to the car and I freaked out, it was almost 6:00 and the sun was completely GONE. Making it colder. Carry on.

No freaking way would I drive with my kids home with the window broken like that and it being 30 degrees. Definitely different then just playing outside.
Alyson Miller·
We're already home, safe and warm. Thanks everyone ??
