What do you give your kids instead? Ds will be one in 2 months and I'm having a hard time deciding what to transition him to when the time comes.

Nikki, that's false. It's not good for your bones in any way.
deleted-user·
@nikki- can you please provide a credible medical study that proves cow milk is good for humans in any way? Besides the hormones and antibiotics, we were NOT designed to drink milk of other mammals.
deleted-user·
@nikki because now more people are educated about what theyre putting into their bodies. just because some/most of us drank cows milk as kids doesnt mean its healthy and okay to give to our kids, or ourselves. actually cows milk is bad for teeth, bones, and just our bodies in general. its acidic, leaches the calcium from the bones, can raise the risk of cancer, high cholestrol levels, and some people are simply just lactose intolerant.

I had a teacher who is in her 60's and she said she gave up drinking milk like 35 years ago. She has the bone density of a teenager and she is super healthy. She explained to us how it's not necessary. Lots of new research has come out about it.

I don't uderstand why everyone is saying they won't let there kids drink cows milk? We all drank it as kids. It good for your bones and teeth. Not being rude just super curious. My little guy and my hubby LOVE milk.

How about transitioning a child @ preschool age? How do you go about that?

My son still nurses at two. Dr said I didn't need to supplement with milk as long as I continued to bf.
deleted-user·
Even if my daughter decides to wean before she's two, I will continue to pump and give her milk in a cup. After that, we will probably switch to almond or coconut milk.

Milk is very acidic and is truly bad for bones.
People aren't meant to drink the milk of other animals. My kids drink water or fruit juice. Nobody needs dairy at all

Cashew milk

I did almond milk with my son. I also did raw milk from the farm. Now, we just do organic milk occasionally because it's what he prefers but mostly just water for him (4) and my 7 year old

@heather cows milk is for baby cows ☺️

Ash for us, we were still bf and he would have water. He had tried almond milk but wasn't too interested until a few months ago. But just bm and water until he was 2 because that was his preference although I wouldn't have minded if he would have had the nut milks more before then.

Can someone please fill me in on why cows milk is bad or isn't preferred? I've heard a mom say this before and have no clue why other than the hormones that are in cows milk. Is that the reason?
deleted-user·
@b- once they turned one were you bf still? Or formula? Or did you just switch right to water?

My son is at his dad's every other week since we share custody and they are the same way. They eat fast food the majority of the time and eat foods that we don't have here so it's always challenging to get him to eat healthy. We found that not keeping unhealthy things in the house at all really helped because he sees his options and knows that's it. I do a lot of smoothies for him and add kale and spinach so he can't even taste it. Same with spaghetti sauce, I add veggies. It's taken about 6 months but now he will try more fruits and veggies that he wouldn't before and knows he can only drink water. He doesn't like nut milks so he will do water over those any day lol. I've added frozen fruit to his water and he loves lemon and lime juice in there too. It's not as much of a challenge now and he's starting to understand why it's so important but it does take a little bit of time and took us some trickery lol.

Ok awesome. I don't want to give him cows milk at all, so I figured almond milk was a popular alternative.
I also need tips on how to get my fiance's son to eat healthy and understand the importance of it. We have him part-time, and his mom doesn't make him drink water at all. He mainly drinks tea & soda at her house ?
She doesn't offer him fruit or veggies, either.

Water and almond milk when having cereal (rarely) and oatmeal. No juice.
deleted-user·
We do almond, coconut, or cashew. They don't really drink it, just add it to smoothies or with oatmeal. My 2 year old will down almond milk if he sees it though. I may or may not have an addiction to chocolate almond/cashew milk right now ? I started making my own and it's amazing.
deleted-user·
Water mostly. Sometimes almond or cashew milk, but meh.

My son won't drink milk in any form, he prefers water and occasionally juice. His pediatrician had no problems with it because he loves yogurt and cheese and broccoli.
deleted-user·
just water. I will give my 3 year old almond milk sometimes, or organic cows. My 14 month old hates all milk (except boob milk lol) & he drinks kefir too when I buy it.
deleted-user·
My lo just drinks water. Pediatrician was totally ok with it, she gets yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese to meet her dairy requirements.
deleted-user·
I give them the horizon organic whole milk and almond milk.
They love both!
Edit: I just read moms against cows milk. Sorry ?I do almond milk sometimes also! They love love love it.

We do almond milk and make sure to eat our dark green veggies. Soy didn't agree with dh's stomach and I just didn't like the taste.
