Vitex question ladies....

I've been taking vitex for almost a week now, have any of you been using it and have had a period yet? ..... I took it the day before my period, unknowingly, and my period was lighter than my extreme heavy flow, and seems to have shorten to 5 days, rather than my usual 10 day flow. Anyone experienced AF change as this? Especially so soon.

^^^ exactly, continue to take it... Definitely. Even when ur period comes around, take it. Its a natural herb that's great for your overall health, so it's best to take it as if you were to take a daily vitamin..... If ur on ur period, you wouldn't stop taking daily vitamins right? Lol so take them continuously and hope for #1 frequent periods that are somewhat predictable #2 less period time, if you have long periods like myself && #3 a bfp :)

I havnt had a period since November and I normally skip two months and then I get a period well in jan I did opk and I got what I thought was a positive and then a week later got a tiny but of spotting and so I was hoping it was my bfp month and then my estimated period was due feb 2 and I didn't get anything.. And still don't have anything. I have have some pos test and some

Neg tests so I'm just confused. I got vitex a few days ago and wondering exactly how I should go about taking it? And do I stop when I get a period? Or do I continue to take it and never stop taking it? Help please thank you.

@adele , I'd start right away, and it should definitely help you in general with your reproductive system and your cycles.

I'm on day 4 of my period (happened naturally with PCOS) yay! Can I start taking this medication now? I'm having trouble with chemical pregnancies, ovulation & irregular periods. Will this help?

I started on cd1! My period was a day shorter than it usually is. I usually start spotting about a week later so I'm hoping I don't spot this cycle ?

I have taken it for a bit now and my period had stopped for a day then started again. Still long as usual, but not as heavy. But it probably didn't take effect because when I first started taking it, I started my period the next day. So I'm on day 15 of my period. Womp womp.

Hey ladies, wanted to update on my vitex situation lol. I started taking it beginning of February and I ovulated earlier than expected (confirmed with an opk), my luteal phase increased to 14 days, but I got my AF on cycle day 33! I have been having 45 day cycles, so it seems to have shortened quite a bit. Pretty happy about that !

Yes this is my first time taking it! Didn't know about it until I joined this group. Hoping for the best for all of us !

Breezy, I continue to take it. Because its supposed to help you ovulate and I wouldn't wanna stop the vitex; to me it seems like it'll delay the process for your upcoming cycle. & you all can call me Kristen :)

Seems like vitex is working for us quickly ladies... And I haven't had any weird side effects or changes in my body besides what I mentioned. Let's see how our cycles do with vitex helping us improve regularity .

Is this the first time 'round you ladies are using vitex?

@kitty, I'd start taking it whenever. Or after AF if you already started.

I'm ttcing 2 months I don't know when i O because I have a long Follicular phase.vitex can be shortened my FP?

irregular periods. when do start taking vitex?thanks

I started taking it a few weeks ago, and my cycles are generally 45 days long. I started spotting today so I'm hoping this means I'll be getting my period this week which would mean it has shortened it to 28-30 days.

@mizzie, I'm hoping that these help me to conceive too. Last cycle was unsuccessful, so I'm taking a few extra steps to help my PCOS with a natural drug while TTC, since PCOS is difficult when it comes to ovulating etc. & most PCOS women resort to fertility medication. Don't wanna do that just yet...

I began taking Vitex a few weeks ago. I got my period on the third day of taking it and it shortened it by a day and the flow was a bit lighter as well. I've been taking two 400 mg capsules a day, once in the morning and once in the evening. So far, I've experienced no side effects. I began taking it to help me regulate as well. I do not have PCOS, and have very irregular periods. We'll see in a few weeks if it is working its magic for me. I hope it helps you out :)

My thing is to regulate me a bit more..... I have PCOS, and was diagnosed when I was 13, I'm 21 now. Went months with no period, then would have my period for 15-21 days. Now its coming every other month which now is normal for me, and would last 10-12 days. And it would be ridiculously heavy with passing clots, tmi, but I'd have to go to bed and wake myself up to change in the middle of the night. So, I'm trying to lighten my flow and make the days at least 5-7 days short.....

I'm on cycle 5 taking Vitex. My issue with periods was that I had hardly any bleeding anyway (a low progesterone issue I think). I only really noticed my flow getting heavier (which I wanted to happen) this last cycle. Vitex can really mess things up for a few cycles while it sorts your hormones out. I'm still noticing lots of changes after 4 cycles. For example, last cycle my Luteal phase was 16 days up from 12 days just the cycle before. What are you hoping to correct by taking the Vitex? Was it to lighten your flow and shorten your period?
